I'm this scenario, Aribo would just see out the last year of his contract and walk away for nothing. Don't you think we've offered Aribo an extension? If he decided not to sign it, what are we to do? Lock him in a room and refuse to release him until he signs? £10M for a player who could sign a pre-contract in less than 6 months isn't derisory, it's good business.

How is it crap? Crap would be losing him for nothing in less than 6 months time.

Fire him? Give him a pay-rise / bonus. Signed for £250,000 and sold for £10M - great business.

Yeah if selling clubs are willing to accomdate that - what if they're not? Let's get the £10M for Joe and reinvest it into the squad.

Apologies probably didn't articulate properly. The article says we won't accept a "package" that doesn't meet £10M - does this mean we would accept say £5M up front and the rest in instalments? I'd be wanting the entire £10M up front. Sell on cause is just wishful thinking on my part but no harm in trying!

The wording is quite interesting - a total package under £10M - I'd be expecting the full £10M + sell-on clause.

It's a short career and most players will try and make as much as possible during their career and I have no issues with that.

Don't think there is any hysteria in here, just fans concerned over the lack of incoming players with the CL Qualifiers on the horizon. Also worth remembering that Hagi, Roofe and Morelos are all coming back from long term injuries so cannot be relied on to hit the ground running.

But we can only sell if we receive bids for our players. Who is going to offer big fees for players entering the final year of their contract? Aribo has a £10M clause in his contract, so that's as much as we'll get for him. Alfie is recovering from a serious injury so that will affect any fee we get for him and Kent cost £7.5M so we will struggle to make much profit there. If we don't sell those 3 this season they walk for nothing - it's as close to a shambles as you can get.

Well we must be in deeper shit than we imagine. Record season ticket sales, merch, EL money (ticket sales, hospitality, TV, UEFA money etc), money from Patterson sale, compensation for SG and his team. The squad is weaker than it was when the season finished, our only signing is injured. We have no wide right attacking players / options. Going into CL Qualifiers and the league campaign with no quality additions is a recipe for disaster. 3 of our most attack minded players are entering the last year of their contracts and we've no idea of they will extend or if they they'll leave. If Kent, Aribo and Morelos leave, I'll guess it'll be late in the transfer window and we'll be left scrambling around trying to replace our front-line at the last minute. Huge couple of weeks ahead and it appears we are not buying before selling - another huge gamble.
