  1. Going into bed with sky or starting on their own station are the only options if Setanta go bust. Okay here is my take on things. With Sky we are second citizens and they only want the old firm games. I would if i was the SPL\SFA get in touch with John de Mol and joop van der Ende who i believe have a big say in the Dutch football and also many ordinary programmes in Britain. The Dutch, Scottish, other smaller countries could take on Sky over the whole of Europe and not just in England. It is time for the smaller countries to fight back!!!
  2. He wants people to learn from his mistakes. There are certainly plenty to learn from. To be honest a ref has a thankless job but video play-backs rather than a few talks from an old ref would be a better help in my eyes.
  3. Feynoord have said all there players are for sale except Giovanni van Bronckhorst. They want to lower their wage bill dramatically. Denny Landzaat, Jonathan de Guzman, en Luigi Bruins. would be worth having a look at for me. Andw©l© Slory is another who i may take a chance on but i am undecided on him he is a bit hot and cold. Roy Makaay would be great but a bit old an his wage would be too high i would imagine. Maybe we could make a cheeky bid for Giovanni for the left mid position. They are desperate for money.
  4. Hopefully Thommo will make it. Seems no chance Edu will make the start.
  5. i can't say i know a lot about him but we do need a defender badly. the fact that Italian teams are interested may be a good sign.
  6. Renfrew Juniors have a club( not a supporter but i lived in Renfrew for a while) so it must be allowed. Bowling Greens have clubs where drink is sold. It must be possible .
  7. Obviously people who live deep in the country here also have to travel further to play i did mean in towns and villages. The fact is you have Boy's clubs, amateur, and Junior level all apart. Why can't that be pulled into one club. Why are boys who are too old for the youth system thrown on the street to find an amateur club for themselves. Pollock, Renfrew juniors, Maryhill to name a few could have a full youth\amateur system behind them producing talent and money instead of just one team depending on a few hundred\thousand supporters and sponsers to keep them afloot. It is crazy for me.
  8. I really feel it is a such a waste of talent to bring young guy's through a boy's club and then say at the end of it "that's it go find yourself an amateur team. My nephew was a really good player but he lost the way when he went to an amateur team and felt uneasy and an outsider looking in. Being unhappy affected his game and he stopped playing. In Holland he would still have been playing with players he was brought up with. Many, maybe most clubs let there u21 team stay together in the senior section for a year or two to make the crossover a bit easier. Obviously players good enough for the 1st-2nd team are fished out. These are replaced by a few more experienced players to help with the transition period. The nuclease of these teams sometimes stay together all the way through the senior level as a friend team with just the odd addition now and again for people who leave.
  9. Most prof teams here do have an amateur part to the set-up although they are probably financially divided. The amateur section of Feynoord has just helped the prof section out of the shit. I believe they dropped their claim to their share of rental payments as the amateurs own half of the Kuip and receive payments from the prof section.
  10. Great to hear the youth is well organised BD but what happens when these kids are 19? Are they kicked out the door to find a senior team or is there also a senior set-up? If there is no senior possibilities many of these players will just stop playing and that would be a pity.
  11. I never picked Edu or Thomson because it would seem they are not going to make the first game. The thread heading is the first game.
  12. The material Mowbray has had is nothing like he will get at parkhead. Let us not push our ego's so far up our backsides that it comes out our ears. O'Neil and Strachen had also won nothing but went on to win titles with the unwashed. Rangers have to move forward if we don't Fred Flintstone could possibly win them the league.
  13. To be honest i feel spending money on a RB at this point is not essential. We can get by with Whittaker, Broadfoot and Lowing. A CB is essential and hopefully we can bring in another Cuellar or Madjid. CB and LM\W are essential for me. While i am not a Boyd fan i will admit without his goals we would not be champions. He really is an enigma. With players that are on our books and what i think is essential: Alexander Whittaker Bougherra New Papac Neighsmith Davis Mendez New Lafferty Boyd Obviously if Edu or Thomson are fit they will play.
  14. Remember Gribz Hemdani was slated for not trying a forward pass.
  15. To be honest i think his fitness and weight were getting below(or above) what we would expect from a Rangers player. He certainly has the skill but he needs to up his fitness levels.
  16. Hopefully they lose in the first round and the CL telly rights will be ours.
  17. That was excellent. Unfortunately the scum will probably wreck his car for doing it. Aiden:giruy:
  18. German amateur teams pay more to entertain Rangers. Pure and simple a money thing, and no huge distances to cover.
  19. Won't make any games this year as i am on holiday. Well at least i hope i don't as it will mean my boat has broken down.
  20. I must admit our scouting team have brought in Boomsong, Cuellor and Magid in the last few years, let's hope they can pull another gem out the hat.
  21. If Walter wouldn't play Aaron at 18 what chance does a 10 year old have in getting picked.
  22. Maybe they will offer Bobo Balde an extention for cover.
  23. I have a piece coming next week giving an insight into the Dutch game at the grass roots. No doubt those who go into the Gersnet writers section will be familiar with it.(or not:))
  24. He was popular at Ibrox for a time. He scored 15(?) goals from midfield one season.
