I am not just looking at the 2 goals, I am looking at the whole game. As a point Goldson and Helander didn't exactly cover themselves in glory at the first goal. The defence was certainly not a confidence boosting platform to build on. I can't say Katic would have won us the game just as you can't say he wouldn't have. So that point is just as much rubbish. Katic may or may not have cut out the cross. He is certainly far quicker than Goldson who has been shown up for speed time and time again. Katic is far stronger in the air than both of them together so the game may have taken a different wending with more confidence in the defence.

Unfortunately Glenn Middleton was totally guilty for the Celtic goal. He fell asleep on the half-way line and let the right back just walk unmarked up-field. By the time he woke up and tried to get back the right back was crossing the ball for Christie to head into the net.

Someone said Aberdeen don't have a player that could get in the Rangers team and I thought then that Lewis would come extremely close to pushing out McGregor. He would certainly be a great replacement for the future

Yes Morelos Davis Stewart Barisic and Katic were all worth a shout, but I am going for Stewart. Not because he was better but for the simple reason his was the surprise performance. What a pity he only hit the post off the long ball from Goldson otherwise we were already looking at goal of the season.

I am not getting at Defoe but the unfair way of counting goals to minutes. I do however feel that Alfie offers far more on the total game structure than Defoe does. Nobody in this world can doubt Defoe's goalscoring record. We saw against Celtic how much we need Alfie to noiseup the defence though.

If a striker scores a hat-trick in one game then he has a goal every 30 minutes but you have to look at it over a number of games to get a good vision of percentages. What I will say is that when defenders see Alfie going off and Defoe coming on, they must think "Awe Naw"

Nothing is perfect but yesterday was damn near. My biggest gripe will be if Katic is not in the starting 11 on Thursday. Gerrard always says you have to win the Jersey back. Well with Goldson and Helander's performance against Dykes and Katic's performance yesterday then I will start to think that Gerrard has other motives to keep dropping his best defender.
