  1. Butcher is on the brink of the sack in Austrailia which although makes him available doesn't bode too well for his consistency of ability.
  2. I'm sure Craig Broon is too.

    pay off??

Maybe we should pay his wages till he gets a new job - probably by next week... It looks like he's quit so the payoff will be modest.
  4. I feel like I've written a thousand posts today...
  5. It's good to have a few threads so they can diverge and you don't have 5 different aspects being talked about at once. Each thread should try to stick to its flavour though...
  6. Eck did manage past Christmas and it's pretty easy these days to make it erroneous to compare with previous managers. We've reached the LAST 32! of the Uefa cup which is now weaker due to the better teams playing in the CL. Not bad but not exactly a great achievement. It's basically the old second round. And the last 16 in the CL is only the old second round in the EC too, although you could argue that competition is now stronger.
  7. Nah we'd get a fee for BF
  8. Could I change Le Guen's quote to be after breakfast: "I've had un oeff" Sorry!!!
  9. PS How much of a pawn must Rae feel like now?
  10. Perhaps the compromise is to play Barry but not return the captaincy to him?
  11. Last season was a bigger crisis as it was all dragged out for 5 months.
  12. Could it be that it's DM that's run out of patience. He could be thinking the exact same thoughts as us with regards to results, performances, tactics, player purchases, man management etc, etc. He also could be thinking along the same lines as us about players, offering Le Guen the likes of Brown, Thomson, Whitakker, Webster, Riordan and then Pressley while Le Guen says, "Non, non, non, non, non, non." and then chooses a bunch of no-hopers. DM could be shitting himself about giving PLG a bunch of millions in the transfer window and after the sacking of arguably our best player, thinks, "Enough is enough", while Le Guen is saying, "I've had enough". DM may not be the best man for our club but it doesn't mean he's entirely stupid. Mutual consent may be a very accurate description.
  13. I would hate to see McCoist go in as manager/head coach but love to see him there as the assistant.
  14. The French will probably lap up the story that he was undermined by xenophobic Scots players who couldn't grasp that the French way is the best way. If he does ok with PSG then his reputation will probably not suffer in his homeland - however it could put off any Premiership chairmen.
  15. The thing is, if we get the right kind of man in, we could get a reaction like Dundee Utd have had under Levein - it took two manager changes in quick succession to get them going again.
  16. I agree the results have been bad, but have this nervous feeling that we could be throwing away a huge diamond that just needed a bit of polishing and setting in a decent piece of jewelry. Le Guen got it wrong big time, and I think he should take full responsibility for that, but there is still a chance he could have turned things around especially after he got rid of Fergie if he was undermining him and decent funding (and choices) during the transfer window. He could go on to great things somewhere else while we may end up with another Eck.
  17. I agree that Barry should be sold now as the situation undermines any future manager and will show SDM to be weak enough to be manipulated by a player. I think in a bust up between the manager and player can only have the one winner (the manager) - or two losers. It was Le Guen's head on the block for the results, not Bazza's so he has to get full support to do the job his way.
  18. Let's hope so - Clement apart.
  19. You've got to wonder about PLG's stomach/bravery/whatever. I'm sure that if he had the conviction of actions and stuck it out, he would at least have till the end of the season. If he turned things around and at least matched Celtic in the second half of the season, he would then even get another season to win the league or at least come close. Speirs has been shown to be talking bollocks again...
  20. Nothing wrong with not liking a manager who can't do the basics at a club like Rangers. People support clubs, not necessarily the managers.
  21. I still wouldn't mind my old favourite, Co Adriaanse. He took AZ from being a mid table team to a consistent league contender (well almost) then moved to Porto and won the championship in his first season before resigning due to interference from the board. He's only last month taken a job at Metalurg Donetsk in the Ukraine. Surely we can tempt him from there...? I would be against WS coming partly as you should never go back - he left for a reason, and mostly that I like him being in charge of Scotland and can't think of a replacement for our national team. Eck - Nooooooooooooo!!!! Souness - no Davies - not sure Burley - yes but not exactly exciting Hitzfeld? - don't think he'd come Van Gaal???
  22. Eck may have had some success early on but he was making the team worse every year and has quite a lot of responsibility for our current malaise. Eck chose the players himself and had far more money to spend than Hearts who came second and that was with three managers and an interfering chairman. If you can't do better with more money than a team in that situation, you cannot complain about not being given credit. We have a similar income to Celtic and you just have to look at what Strachan has done without having tons to spend. His back four cost buttons and they are by far the best defence in the league. When he has spent big, he has done it reasonably wisely and has been good at giving the youngsters a chance.
  23. I like Burke as a player but he's been give what I think is a generous offer. If he wants to take more money out the supporters' pockets then he can do it elsewhere as far as I'm concerned.
  24. He's the one saying Le Guen will be sacked sooner rather than later. He's just being a sanctimonious ****.

    Tranfers??

Burke may not be the best player and he's not exactly fit or on form but I'd pick him over Sionko any day of the week. Burke is a bit inconsistent but definitely adds something to the team when he's playing well and gets reasonably stuck in when he isn't. Sionko for me, has done nothing to add to the team and can't even beat a full back which Burke does many times in a game. Burke is better at crossing (although not perfect by any means) has a better shot and also tracks back more and puts in more tackles. He may not be your favourite but the difference between him and Sionko is night and day.
