  1. I realise this and my reply is aimed at any player who really comes out with and means this rubbish and is more an argument against its justification.
  2. I think the point is that if you sign for a biggish club on a biggish wage, you may want to move on to bigger things, but right now it is insulting to say so especially in the international press and also presumptuous before you've even proved you are anything special at your present club. Imagine you had a friend, partner, business partner who said they were only using you as a stepping stone to bigger things... There is being honest and there is being tactless and insulting. I think all the players in our squad should be concentrating on getting their fingers out and being a success at Rangers before thinking about moving on. We are 13 points behind Celtic, out of the CIS cup to St Johnstone and most of them look like their next step is the French second division. So not only are players saying that kind of stuff sound insulting, at the moment they also look like pretentious, arrogant twats.

    Sionko

Buffel was his usual frustrating self, moments of genius balanced by moments of bewilderment. He wastes more attacks than he creates and seems to have an imagination bypass most of the time, completely running out of ideas and losing the ball when a simple side pass could easily bring a goal. Sebo was complete pants, didn't get himself into many good positions and squandered anything that came his way. Sionko looks like he can play but he's not interested in putting the graft in to allow his talent to shine. Le Guen replaced the 3 forwards with another 3 and the difference to the game was chalk and cheese. Maybe the game was already dead but you would think that three pairs of fresh legs with a point to prove would produce a good performance from the subs. But all they did was vindicate the choice of the the three starters. Prso, Novo and Boyd all showed more desire, more skill and more cutting edge while Prso and Novo also defended well helping the midfield to dominate and preventing Kilmarnock from getting up to our end of the park. Kilmarnock started to get their fair share of possession and territory after the subs came on and our attacks lost their cutting edge with the ball being lost easily. There was a few chances but nowhere near as many as there were in the first hour. Buffel was the only one who looked a threat but he really has to remember that it's ok to just do the basics now and again and that keeping the ball is highly important. Sionko looks like a poor man's Burke without the defensive qualities or the motivation and Sebo, it has to be said, looks like he plays for the likes of Raith Rovers and doesn't bring me any more hope than Jeffers did. I hope they all prove me wrong but their chances are running out.
  4. He had a fantastic game on Sunday but I agree that the pace of the game helped him to shine. Kilmarnock were pedestrian and didn't press us at all, very rarely making challenges or using much pace.
  5. I agree that they should both have been sent off. Can I ask, if you are being booed and called a "wanker" by supports of a club with an Irish, Catholic history, is it because you are Irish, because you are Catholic or because you are obviously a total wanker? Racism and sectarianism my arse.
  6. I don't don't know if I could say he isn't good enough but he definitely hasn't given any evidence that he is. We can only make decisions on what we know and what we can see and until he looks like a decent player, I don't think many will back him for a first team place.
  7. We'll have to have the team firing on all cylinders to beat them at Ibrox, hopefully we'll be on a run of results with high confidence and more consistency.
  8. Hibs and home grown talent might be a bit of a myth now - they had Whittaker, Scott Brown, Thomson and Fletcher on. That's only four... We play five or six most games! Celtic played with two and one substitute. Maybe we should start getting credit for using home grown talent...
  9. PS If the likes of Cardiff become richer than us then we really have to do something to keep up...
  10. It would mean very little money would go to the SPL as everyone would be watching the EPL instead. You could say the same about Rangers fans hating Celtic yet we still NEED them, so it's a bit of pot, kettly and black. I care about the Scottish league although I care about Rangers first. I realise that we are such a small country that we need to put most of our resources into two pots to compete with the rest of Europe. But this is a way of having 4 or 5 pots albeit with the OF still having more. But this way the like of Hearts, Hibs and Aberdeen could possibly start to compete with the likes of Portsmouth, Wigan, Fulham, Charlton, Reading, Bolton, Sheffield Utd etc and maybe do a Middlesburgh or Alkmaar and have a good UEFA run. 5 is better as it brings more games - so more money, more fans and allows three Scottish also-rans a chance to make it big. 5 teams is half the old SPL and with relegation and promotion would benefit a reasonable number of clubs. I think they will, but having come up from the old 4th division, they will have deserved it. I think it could make Cardiff a huge club as they could get a lot of support in Wales being the only club in the EPL. Add that to mid-table Sky millions for a couple of years and they will be competing in the top half of the table. Remember they have half the population of Glasgow, but also half the big teams and so all thing being equal could be as big as the OF. The innequality I suppose comes from the Welsh seeing Rugby as the national sport. They are building a £100M new stadium which holds 30,000 seats but you can't help wonder why they don't just move to the Millenium stadium which would give them huge potential in the EPL although I suppose they'd start playing to less than half a stadium full...
  11. Didn't see Gribz game of the weekend (Man U v Chelsea) but it would have to be a cracker to be the equal or better of this game. It was a hell of a game and if you think about it the result was pretty good for us as we caught up two points on Celtic and stretched two more points ahead of a team that look like emerging as our biggest rivals for second place - no disrespect to Aberdeen but Hibs are on fire at the moment and have already played both the Old Firm off the park for most of a game. I've got Setanta and no Sky sports, besides I'm far more interested in the SPL than that over-rated league in the South, where most of the teams remind you of the old 2nd division. So it was a no brainer to me to watch this one especially as Hibs have been playing the best football in Scotland recently and Celtic have just beaten the top of the EPL. I really fancied Hibs to take the points, as Celtic haven't really been setting the heather alight and seem more adept at coming back at teams in the second half and nicking all the points. This almost happened again with Hibs dominating for the first hour, going 2-0 up and then naively pressing for a third - and almost getting it. They opened themselves up at the back and Celtic exploited that to get 2 goals back and almost took all the points themselves. It was end to end stuff, and enjoyably more so at the Celtic end, I was cheering on Hibs with gusto and pleasure, wondering what with all our money and a manager of great repute, why can't we play football like that. Hibs played at an incredibly high tempo with balls to feet and great running with the ball with close control, most of which was on the deck. When they lost the ball they harried and jostled the Celtic players to get it back and did so with aplomb on countless occasions. Their tackling was brilliant and matched a obvious desire to possess the ball. It's just a pity that they don't know when to shut up shop, but like I said, a draw was probably best for us.
  12. Don't think we'll ever be able to join the EPL as it would require turkey's voting for Christmas and if it doesn't happen soon we won't be able to compete anyway as we'll be financial minnows. The more the big 5 increase their financial differential with the rest the more pressure there will be for those types of multinational leagues. I'm all for it although I'd like 5 from each country to make 20 teams which would help keep Scottish football alive - think about it, 5 rich teams instead of 2, with them cherry picking from the Scottish league. A voluntary quota of players trained in the home country (regardless of nationality) would help keep things balanced. Two teams joining the EPL would just kill Scottish football and we'd end up being just a couple of northern English teams full of players from other EPL clubs. Thing is we need it to happen, very soon, before it's too late to compete.
  13. Agree with you again, Le Guen has used up all his experimenting time, it's now time to use what we know and get all the results and points we can. If we were in Celtic's situation, then I'd be all for a bit of tweaking and giving players a chance. We just can't afford to gamble anymore. Sebo has shown absolutely nothing in all the games he has started or come on as a substitute, that he can do much for the team at all. He's blown his chance of getting a run and can only see him coming into the team if there are a few injuries to the front men.
  14. Got to agree with this - it seems to correlate with the fact that most of Novo's goals this season have had a touch of luck - usually a mild deflection or in off the woodwork. They haven't exactly been clinical. I like Novo, he tries hard and is all over the pitch but his quality is limited and he's more of a squad player to me. If Le Guen had bought more astutely in the summer, Novo wouldn't have a sniff of a starting place.

    Stokes Red Card

I used to prefer the smaller teams to be a full strength to give us a better game, but now I too am relieved that their best player is not going to be there to torment our defence.
  16. Seeing as Auxerre got their first goal from a hoof up the park, I don't think you can really criticise them for trying to exploit a dodgy defence by doing the same for the rest of the game... I think it's a good point about Barry. If I'm playing and a better player or captain keeps criticising and moaning at me, I'm likely to get pissed off, demovitated and then lose confidence and start to get nervous about doing the wrong thing. I play well and with more confidence with a better player giving me advice, constructive criticism, encouragement and the odd bit of praise.
  17. Isn't it frustrating to have to wonder if your manager can spot the obvious? We had that with Eck but I didn't expect it with Le Guen.

I know which team I'd be betting on...

Hold on a minute, didn't Adam play one preseason game at left back? But you're right Papac will play. Anyway I think we need in order of priority 2 CBs, 1 CF, 1 RB, 1LM. Get rid of Rod, Bardsley, Ricksen, Buffel and Rae to make room. Bring in Gough as a defensive coach, McCoist as a striking coach and while we're at it promote Durrant to midfield coach. We could also get Goram as goalkeeping coach and Numan as full back coach, Hateley as target man coach, Stuart McCall as holding midfielder coach, Albertz as Adam's coach, Laudrup as winger coach, bring back Bomber to help Gough and Gary Stevens could help out Numan. So the coaching team could be: ...................Goram Stevens...Gough...Brown...Numan Laudrup...McCall...Durrant...Albertz ...........Hateley...McCoist or should that be: ...................Goram Stevens...Gough...Brown...Numan .............McCall...Albertz ....Laudrup.................Durrant ..................McCoist ..................Hateley

    The press

After the way we played, I'd be too embarrassed to shout from the rooftops. We're just getting by against pretty poor opposition, we'd be hammered in the CL right now. If we want to go much further after the 3rd placed CL teams join in we'll have to get in 4 decent players in January and get the real PLG to stand up and show us why he's got such a good reputation.
  21. I also now remember having millions in Romania, and had to take great care to count all the zeros before paying for anything - especially at night.
  22. I think I had half a million Turkish Lira once on holiday but that's about 5p now...
  23. PS that was when we had a debt significantly bigger than our turnover, I'm sure with our lower debts that MIM has no connection nor guarantee.
  24. Just shows you, it's easy to make money when you're rich... Re DM and guarranteeing loans: I think Rangers liabilities are linked to his holding company which is backed by MIM.
  25. I'll go for a Man U, Chelsea draw. 0-0.
