RST Write to Senior SNP Figures Over IRA Pub Visit
calscot replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Speak for yourself, some of us actually chose to support Rangers... -
7/10 for me. A couple of things I didn't know and one I couldn't remember.
-
The problem is that there was common sense when we needed professional sense. Where was the sense in making tax rules and then punishing people for not breaking them? Where was it when changing rules and back dating them? Where was it when some large companies were allowed to settle but one company was refused and hounded mercilessly? Where was the sense in with all that, pushing a company with huge public interest into an illegal sale and subsequent liquidation? There wasn't much sense applied at all. The "common" sense was certainly that - equivalent of taking some common person on the street and asking for their sense to decide on a very complex tax issue, rather than the sense of experts on these matters.

I tried blades on 4G and didn't like it, so immediately switched to lots of "nodules" - or mini rubber studs. Hard to describe.
-
I pressume the fee will be a generic "training" fee based on age and time at the club. That might be reduced due to his temperament...

I'm disappointed we haven't seen more of him. While Warburton doesn't seem too reticent to playing teenagers, he does tend to pretty much exclusively pick the loan ones, rather than our own ones. Thomson was the manager's own signing, so that's a bit mystifying - rather than inheriting players he doesn't think are up to it.
-
I think clubs will vote against it due to the usual self interest. Our lower leagues, while good for the community in a way, are really of non-league level compared to some other countries. A lot of it's more about a deeper history than most small countries and instead of making the leagues smaller we make them bigger all the time. Part of that is modern day transport that allows the highland and border teams to join the national leagues. So for me the answer is possibly to allow these teams into the higher parts of non-league systems and see if they get promoted naturally to the proper leagues and work their way up. However, that could expose talented, young, but not so well built or savvy youngsters playing against cynical, physical players, who don't want cocky kids making them look bad.
-
I think the quick answer to that is that there is no room. Their lower leagues each have 24 teams each, and if they are not going to let the OF in, they are definitely not letting B teams in. I'm not sure Spanish football has the same breadth and depth.

Rangers fan, 18, arrested over "breach of ground rules" banner
calscot replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
I agree - they lied in court against me on a speeding ticket. -
Actually some of his ideas don't logically work when you apply it to the whole of Scotland. For example, how can everyone play 17 year olds against 20 year olds? All you get is a de facto under 18 league.

A lot of people were unhappy at McKay's development and so can't be happy with this.

Reading between the lines, it sounds like it's not what was on the banners but instead the fact that they covered the advertising boards which would obviously be against house rules. I would guess the arrest would be for refusing to remove it when told to. You would think that the article would actually inform you, but that's journalists for you. -
RFFF statement - youth development at Auchenhowie proposed
calscot replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
It could give us an option to start a prestigious summer youth tournament... Didn't we once have 20k at a reserve game for Durrant's comeback? Perhaps we could get 264 for Waghorn's... -

You have a point, but then there are two potential answers to that. The first is the club pays to defend it - which seems right and proper to me. The trophies belong to the club and the club should defend. The main difference now, is that prevously we could not trust the board to spend money on this. Secondly if the club can't afford it, then all we need is another whip round. We raised the money last time so it should be easy enough to do so again if our trophies are threatened. The point is that if we keep this money, as a just in case, for an unlikely scenario which will probably never happen, you therefore have this money sitting in the bank doing nothing, in perpetuity... That's pretty much the same as making the money disappear. I think one solution could have been to put the money in a trust investment, and then spend the interest earned every year on something worthwhile. Why do we have to spend it all? Maybe this would only be say 20 grand but that could be useful for a good Rangers related cause - say a summer training camp, say half for underprivileged kids, and half for a programme or season ticket lottery for all kids. But the decision seems to have been made. -
It was two, male angels every man in the city demanded to have sex with, but Lot said that they were his guests and he had to protect them, so kindly offered his two daughters instead, to do anything they like with. But then later, the two daughters colluded to get their father drunk two nights in a row, for each of them to have sex with him to get pregnant. That for me was the kicker... If you're wondering where their mother was, God killed her by changing her into a pillar of salt for the crime of glancing back at her home city (when told not to), which God was busily destroying with burning sulphur, in order to kill everyone for their wickedness (including the women, children and babies). Strangely enough, it was Gersnet that prompted me to start reading the bible last year - someone used the word, "onanism", and I had to look it up - and to understand the meaning, I had to look up the story of Onan in the bible - Genesis 38. The story was so bizarre, that I became fascinated and read the whole of the book of Genesis, and then a whole load of other books after that. But maybe this is for the Bluenose Lounge...

I really get the impression you haven't read much of it. Very few do, even though it's a massive best seller. Maybe the greatest work never read? I think the main excuse is that everyone thinks of the King James Bilble but it's written in old English and hard to read. There's plenty of modern translations to choose from now that are quite readable, and free on the web, so not much excuse. From my own experience of reading a lot of it, the kindest thing I can say about it is that it's a bit bonkers but can be hilarious in its absurdity which helps you keep page turning. Try Genisis 19, it's a cracker. Maybe you can get the metaphor better than me... let me know what the moral of the story is. If you can't be bothered reading it, here's a pretty accurate and entertaining cartoon version:

Scottish football goes global in international TV deal...

At least if you holiday there, it's no problem seeing the games... -
I disagree, he is a Rangers fan and for all you know, a potential future member and/or contributor, I can't see why he is not allowed to ask for relevant information. He's not the only fan / potential contributor who could be interested. RST may not have the compulsion to answer to a non-member, but in the climate of a desire for transparency about everything to do with the ownership of the club, I can't see why it should be information they would want to withhold. With this kind of attitude, it's no wonder the support are divided.
-
He might have been jaded lately but for me, he's one of the most irreplacable players in the first team, and the first name I want on the teamsheet. I wish we had an obvious, quality understudy... We'll have to see if that's the case.
-
You're saying people who are interested in knowing more stuff are not sensible?
-
Genuine question, have you actually read much of the bible? I recommend it, it's a huge eye opener. The biggest question you ask yourself incredulously is, "Have many people actually read much of this?" I very much doubt it's many - it's not what they teach in Sunday school... The whole thing must be some huge, and very difficult metaphor. I'm not going to say anything for or against it, it is what it is. But I think most people should read it and then make up their own mind... Sorry if this sounds off topic, but my point is that I'm not very comfortable with defending Rangers chants by using quotes from the bible - it's a bit of a minefield.

Without commenting on whatever BH has done or not done, as I don't really get the hooha, I find the apparent representatives of RF and RST on here have behaved incredibly poorly. I don't think BH is the only one to be interested in transparency of the numbers - and to have a go at him about numbers he took from the official site, and then go on to snidely defend that site, is astonishing. Then to refuse to give the numbers just because it "pisses someone off" sounds about as petty as you can get. Maybe it's all about a bunch of people who don't get on in person, and have a bit of history, but when you don't know anyone, it all just looks a bit bitchy on here. That still wouldn't be that important on a forum, if it wasn't for the fact that some of the people appear to be involved in leading the fan investment groups...

The psalms also tell us to smash our enemies' babies heads on the rocks... Psalm 137:9 Happy is the one who takes your babies and smashes them against the rocks! (New Living Translation) Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones. (King James Bible) The bible is a bit bonkers...

Rangers First board election: Gersnet's voting poll...
calscot replied to Zappa's topic in Rangers Chat
That reflects what I've always said and gives a reasoning behind having some kind of party system like in the General elections.
