  8. HMRC step up pressure on Rangers over tax bill Published Date: 02 September 2011 By ALAN PATTULLO Rangers took delivery yesterday of further paperwork from HM Revenue and Customs as attempts to resolve the Ibrox club's £2.8 million tax bill continued. The tax liability was revealed during due diligence prior to the takeover of the club by new owner Craig Whyte earlier this year. Rangers are contesting a fine which is on top of the amount owed. Yesterday's visit by representatives of HMRC spelled out the sanctions which could be levied on Rangers if the bill is not settled. Included in this list of measures is the freezing of the club's assets, although rumours that this had happened yesterday have been firmly denied by sources close to the club. Rangers, who rejected a £6.5 million bid for striker Nikica Jelavic from Leicester City on Tuesday, are furious at the way details of the on-going dispute have emerged in public. "The club are raging that they are being put in a position to explain tax business in public because of leaks from HMRC," said a club source. http://sport.scotsman.com/sport/HMRC-step-up-pressure-on.6829494.jp
  9. SCOTLAND legend Kenny Dalglish has promised the Tartan Army: WE'RE BACK! King Kenny believes Craig Levein now has the players to restore Scotland's glory days. Liverpool aces Danny Wilson and £9million Charlie Adam could face the Czechs at Hampden tomorrow. Scotland record-breaker Dalglish believes they can help fire the national team closer to Euro 2012. He said: "Maybe the club results in Europe do not endorse it but I think Scottish players are improving. I feel there are some positive signs coming through in Craig's squad. It is great for Scotland they now have guys playing regularly in the Premiership. "You are talking about a Manchester United player in Darren Fletcher and a Liverpool player in Charlie. "We have Old Firm guys and someone like James Morrison who has played a lot for West Brom. "It gives you a wee bit of confidence looking at the teamsheet." Levein has shaped his midfield around Anfield ace Adam, who was signed by Dalglish in the summer. Dalglish â who won 102 caps, scoring 30 goals â insists Adam is in top form. He added: "He has come into the Liverpool squad and fitted in right away with the lads. "He's good on the pitch and he is good off it. "He is mature and has the right attitude. "He has always been an excellent passer of the ball and everyone's seen that in our games already this season. He hit some wonderful balls last weekend at Anfield and scored too. "He puts a shift in for me as well. There's no lack of effort in games or in training and I'm delighted with him. "Charlie had such a fantastic start to his time in the Premiership last season with Blackpool that I think everyone took notice of him. "I was already aware of him, of course, from his time at Rangers. "I always knew he had good ability and we wanted to help him develop that even more at Anfield. "The talent has always been there. Remember, from a young age he scored goals for Rangers in Europe and even in an Old Firm game. "I didn't hold it against him that he once scored a free-kick against Celtic! "Charlie needed a wee break in his career and maybe leaving Rangers was that break. "He had to show some strength of character and he took advantage of the chance offered to him by Ian Holloway. He's improved his game." Kop stopper Wilson faces a fight with Christophe Berra of Wolves for a start against the Czechs. Dalglish insists the teenager â who started against Denmark last month â wouldn't let Levein down. He said: "Danny has a big future at Anfield. "He's a lot of potential. He has pace, a great left foot and is good in the air. He was excellent against Denmark." 10. CRAIG WHYTE insists he HAS spent big this summer â despite NO box office arrivals. The Rangers owner was last night forced to defend his signing policy in the face of mounting criticism from supporters. Whyte pledged to spend £25million on new players over the next five years. He later upped that and claimed £15m would be ploughed in this summer. But SunSport's damning figures show Gers' net spend at the close of the August transfer window was just £500,000. But Whyte said: "Ally's signed seven new players and re-signed seven more this summer, which has been a significant investment in the squad. "While all Rangers fans want to see as many star signings as possible there has to be realism as well. "Unfortunately. we've not qualified for the Champions League or Europa League group stages and the club has to be run in the correct manner. "Ally and I discuss these matters constantly and he has told me he is happy with the squad he has at his disposal. "We look forward to the rest of the campaign and doing all we can to continue our success." Rangers rejected a £6.5m bid from Leicester City for striker Nikica Jelavic on Tuesday. Aston Villa also enquired about Steven Davis with Whyte delighted both players are still at Ibrox. He revealed: "We had a serious offer for Nikica, but it fell well short of the player's true valuation. "Ally McCoist is building a good squad capable of competing for the domestic treble and Jelavic and Davis are key players." Meanwhile, McCoist insists Gers' decision to spurn interest in Jelavic and Davis is a big signal. The Gers gaffer said: "I am delighted Nikica and Steven are staying. "There was no pressure to sell either, but the club received a serious offer for Nikica from Leicester. "I have no doubt the players we have here are more than capable of defending the title." 11. I really like Naismith, the guys' attitude is second to none,he is a great wee fitba player and we miss him more than any other player when he is out.
  12. I have no idea Zappa,I like being in the '' singing section '' but the game against the SHEEP was the first time I have been able to get to Ibrox this season and while it was as good as always I missed being so far away from the SHEEP/away fans. You would have to ask Frankie,or any of TBO hierarcy,I just go with the flow mate
  13. I'm in with TBO so I have to give my seat up for the BHEASTS:frown:. We get shoved into the GWC,ach it's not so bad,the craic in there is good on derby day:rfc:
  14. The thread was started by GMS,so I assumed there was some substance to it.
  15. HA!HA!,just saying mate, why should we listen to you?,or any other fan, when we have it on good authority he is a decent player Aye,your red wine was braw mate,on different stuff tonight:whistle::devil:
  16. My ticket arrived today......................................:spl:
  17. There is a 31 page thread on it on FF,just can't be arsed reading it lol

    Unknown Bidder.

The Rangers do their talking on the pitch. The BHEASTS............................................well what can you say about the cheating BASTARDS that has not been said already?.
  19. What the fuck do you know about a player?
  20. Lifted from FF: HMRC sources are briefing the media that they have this afternoon frozen the club's bank accounts because of the smaller outstanding (£2.8million) tax case. Anybody know anybody know anything about this?
  21. ian1964

    Unknown Bidder.

Who gives a flying fuck what Liewell or any other BHEAST says, all they need to know is they are,and will always be,the second best team in Scotland.Unless they actualy start doing something about us continualy winning league titles they really should not be trying to have snide pops at the Champions,it only makes them look silly.
  22. I don't see anybody creaming their pants at him signing for Rangers for a start. And going by the same token why put a downer on him before he has even kicked a ball for Rangers?. But I'll go with Craig on this as well,I will trust ex professionals/ex Rangers players judgement before any supporter, also he is another Captain joining the Rangers, now that doesn't make him a great player but it also doesn't make him a bad player but I do think he will improve our team as will the other signings.Time will tell of course.
  23. Well,I do think we are strong enough and good enough to retain the title for 4 in a row,we haven't lost any important players. Goian & Bochanegra replaced Boogie. We only have domestic football to concentrate on so there is no point talking about european football.
  24. All players are prone to mistakes,Wallace was guilty of allowing the Maribor player to nutmeg him before crossing for the goal.
  25. Aye,I should have said '' the likes of '',but then again I'm sure you knew that.
