Who Ate All the Pies.....Rangers v Kilmarnock Preview
JFK-1 replied to cooponthewing's topic in Rangers Chat
We only have to turn in a performance like the one today next week to blow Ross County away. County have won just 2 of 12 league matches they have played and the last win was way back on August 20th against Kilmarnock. They're not in our class and we can easily take them apart by just playing as we did today and that should be feasible enough since we appear to be forming more of a settled starting 11. Following that it's Dundee at Ibrox and all things being equal that should present no more problems than Kilmarnock did. Then it's Partick away followed by Hearts away then the sheep at home. We owe those sheep a humiliation for numerous reasons. If we can follow up the Kilmarnock performance with a similar display and comfortable win next week my confidence will increase that we have turned the corner at last and you would have to guess the team will feel the same. We have taken 10 points from the last 12 available and if today is anything to judge by we're becoming stronger all the time. -
My slap in the face comment was referring to the likes of Keith Jackson and the "top 6 at best" brigade. I truly feel this team only needs to start performing to their capabilities consistently for us to begin opening up a comfortable gap between us and those currently behind us while perhaps even closing the gap on the one above us. Plus we still have injured key players like Rossiter and Wilson to come back into the squad and King promising January window activity we may have turned a corner. And regarding the January window presuming any additions will be better than anything we currently have in the relevant position because Warburton has always said that was a prerequisite of any new signings and we're definitely heading in the right direction.

I doubt anybody at all has any illusions about what would happen if they were out of the picture and we were left hogging the Champions league money at will. The evidence the league is a farce is staring us in the face right now. As far as i'm concerned we're minimum second best in it even after years out of the picture and extraordinary boardroom turmoil until recently. That's how poor it is and how meaningless their most recent league titles are.

Even just a second place finish is a slap in the face for them after all the waffle before a ball was kicked then it increased after the opening day flop against Hamilton. All the talk was "you're in with the big boys now and you will be top 6 at best" I really don't see anyone beating us to minimum second given that even the critics gleefully point out our form has been poor yet playing poorly here we are in second place. An even bigger slap in the face for Keith Jackson so soon after pronouncing the sheep undisputed second force. The defence has been improving and we seem to be getting a potent attacking midfield up and running. Just need to consistently put the goals away to leave the sheep trailing in our wake squabbling with Hearts and St Johnstone for third. To expose Jackson even further as a waffler I would absolutely love the sheep to do no better than their current 4th place.

That one can be viewed in Scotland, it's the same one Ian posted earlier but is extremely poor quality in comparison to the one that can't be viewed in the meantime. -

If we can just maintain this for the next two matches away to current second bottom Ross County who we owe a hammering for their freakish luck at Ibrox then at home to bottom club Dundee we might start opening a gap between us and 3rd place. Next Saturday Hearts are hosting St Johnstone who are well capable of taking something from it after having previously beaten Hearts in Perth and the following week Hearts will be away to Hamilton who just recently did a job on the sheep. Next two matches for the sheep are both away to first Partick then Caley and frankly I always feel anybody is capable of beating the sheep. I don't get what fan boy Keith Jackson sees in them though to be fair I haven't watched all their matches but the few I did they were total dross. -
He was man of the match in the opening fixture against Hamilton.

Better quality highlights. And I have seen matches on RTV and it was a lot better than that. -

I always thought Garner may come good given the chance of a run of games which he hasn't been given. The PNE fans all said that he is a confidence player who needs a run of games to get into his stride and now for the first time we gave him just two consecutive starts and he returns two goals. I couldn't believe the criticism he and his signing was getting when he hadn't even had the chance to start two consecutive games. -

And if Wilson can return and be an improvement on Kiernan as most think he is we might be getting the defence organized at last. Start putting them away at a ratio compatible with our dominance and we're on our way even before the January strengthening King has promised. -
I watched it too, good game and Liverpool looking good for top 4 and who knows maybe even champions. If not for the anomaly against Burnley which hasn't been repeated they would be topping the table.
-
Obviously i'm happy/relieved too but I think it's simply the goals going in for once that make the difference. I think I may even have seen them play better but it doesn't get the credit when they're not scoring. The 0-0 game at Ibrox against Ross County as an example they were totally all over them but just couldn't get the ball in the net. Warburtons comments after that game. And he was right it was a good performance but as I said the ball just wouldn't go in the net. If we can only start putting them away on a regular basis we will be fine.

Man Utd draw 0-0 at home with non contenders Burnley and now lie in 8th position which could be 9th tomorrow if Southampton were to beat Chelsea at home. Could Mourinho be sacked early season two years in a row? Though to be fair they appear to be going through a similar patch to that we have been experiencing. Totally dominant but not getting the rewards. Possession: Man Utd 72% - Burnley 28% Shots: Man Utd 37 (wow) - Burnley 7 Shots on target: Man Utd 11 - Burnley 1 Corners: Man Utd 19 - Burnley 1

Where are we now? Languishing in second place. Languishing because our aim is top but in the meantime with the massive advantages the current top have it's acceptable. And I still say we're far and away better than all but one other. The sheep are shite against any side with just a hint of quality while Hearts are inconsistent and despite our flaws we're better than both. It's significant that the press etc have been labeling us as playing badly but haven't said the same thing about the sheep or Hearts yet here we are above them both. Playing crap. What does that suggest will happen when we start playing well?

Guessing we would say that definitely O'Halloran and Windass plus maybe Garner have all earned a place in the starting line up. I'm still mad about Hodson giving that goal away on Wednesday. We would be comfortably second place if not for that blooper. I shouldn't be forming an opinion on a player due to a single incident but it really irked me. -

St Johnstone beaten 2-1 by a last minute goal while Hearts draw at Caley so we're now clear second place in the table. Maintain this form and we can easily coast away from the chasing pack. -

Hoping Hearts and St Johnstone stay as they are and we get one more goal with no reply which puts us clear in second place on GD no less despite our relatively poor GD. And that's a perfect illustration that some of the screams about our position were meaningless as things stood. -

Wohoo. Home and dry now. Two goals in two games for Garner. Apparently he's a confidence player so i'm glad he scored. -

Ditto. Keep this up and we could be looking at more goals to improve our poor GD. -

Let's see two dominant halves for a change. I'm always somewhat concerned after a dominant first half because how many times have we seen them come out for the second and it's a whole different game? Though at least this time we have a 2 goal cushion.
