  1. Scooter or Frankie gonna come up with some double winner's banners?
  2. Getting ahead of myself. Doesn't look like they did.
  3. McGregor may well leave, even though he's slightly the better keeper. I'd keep Broadfoot, relatively inexpensive back up. Hard to move on an injured player anyway. Of your midfield selection, Mendes will stay unless we get funny money I reckon. I'd maybe keep Adam too. Sure we're quoted as wanting to move on 7 or 8 but only bring in 3/4. So we can't get rid of everyone and I think he's a useful squad option. I think Lafferty gets an easy ride from the fans, but he is a certainty to stay. As is Novo imo. Velicka could well move on if we find a buyer, though he's shown to be useful as a poor man's Boyd if Kris is off form/injured. I doubt we will move on quite as many players as you suggest, though you do recognise that in your own post. Fairly good assessment, even if I don't quite agree with it all.
  4. 2 St Mirren players in team of the season. Not convinced. Andy Dormn. Scored in a few consecutive televised games. Did he really have a great season though? Not sure about either fullback tbh. Would've thought Papac would be the shout for LB.
  5. Gribz was Coyle not first choice in any place?
  6. That was my intial reaction when I saw three tims in their who had average seasons at best.
  7. Murdo's team Anyone wanna set him straight? :spl:
  8. Whoever he is, he's dedicated to his site.
  9. Didn't notice that before. 64 points. Just a typo I guess, like getting his club wrong.
  10. http://www.worldsoccer.com/esm/esmgoldenshoe.php Though he plays for Atletico Madrid not Vilarreal. Boydie came in joint 15th. No Super Ally but he's had a good season.:spl: Tims still after Janko?
  11. Here's hoping.
  12. Is it usual for teh club to call you four times regarding non-renewal though? With the current financial climate it will no doubt suit a lot of fans not to be tied to a ST and the ground will still be full for big games. It might be slightly less full for smaller games, by how much may depend on the standard of football and how we are competing in competitions. Might buying tickets on a per game basis actually mean more income for the club? Never really bothered working out how much (if any) of a saving the ST is. Also once we see our CL group drawn you may get a rush of late ST purchases to ensure tickets for some bumper games.
  13. From what i;ve read today: We sold 43,500 season tickets last year. We are ahead of schedule this year (unsure what target are or what has been sold). It was supposedly reported in the Herald and Mail last Friday Celtic's sales were at just 28,000. One fan claims a friend of his who decided not to renew has been phoned 4 times and their deadline has been extended twice. Is that normal?

Hopefully not to bad, though we should be well covered with Thommo possibly still first choice anyway.
  15. I do think Cal's point is quite easy to fathom, but also think he's being a bit obtuse. There are many fans who go absolutely tonto at players being "played out of position", yet Dailly didn't revert to his current "first choice" position til 22 and Cal is right that if the same argument applied on here was used in Dailly's case he's just played about 13 years of football "out of position". However, in light of the fact that Dailly has played predominantly as a defender, it would be a pretty stubborn person not to admit that is his favoured position. I do think people do get a little worked up by players being "out of position" though. Look at Papac for the best example. Came as a CB, plays his best at LB and I would have nightmares with him at the back. For me he is a LB, but not according to the strict rules we seem to apply. Then there are some players it's hard to define. I would say McCulloch is a LM. That's where I saw him play predominantly for Wigan and Scotland. Some argue his first position is CF. Yet this season he has shown himself capable of playing CB and defensive midfield role sweeping in front of the defense (even if he was worse than shite in the cup final it cannot be denied he did his job well v Hearts and Celtic). Whittaker. What's his position? Played mostely at RB for Hibs I thought and signed as RB. Started off RM for us before playing LB. I still fancy him as a RB, but who could be developed into an attacking RM if he got experience playing there. Cal has already said he thinks his best position is RM rather than RB. Novo? A Striker. Arguably plays better cutting in off the flanks. Dailly playing CF when he has played largely in a defensive role (be that RB, CB or DCM) does seem a more extreme position move, but as has been noted he's doen the role before. And that is not the sign of things to come. For a start Dailly has left. Secondly, we had two outfield options on the bench. Dailly and a kid who has only played CB and only at reserve level. Smith could not risk bringing on Wilson for Boogie/Weir when the team was toiling badly in a Cup Final with a 1 goal lead. Bring Dailly on at the back? Why break up the only functioning part of the team. It has been suggested lafferty had to come off so arguably it was Smith's only real option. As i've said elsewhere, using a time wasting sub on a forward with fresh legs to chase every out ball is less likely to back fire than bringing on a player who needs time to get up to speed with the game at the back. And it was for all of a few minutes. Far too much being made of it imo.
  16. It is possible though that Bert K has merely split them like that as he likes to predict future rounds by having the side's with the highest co-efficients qualfiying from the round previous.
  17. It might make good sense to the bank managers. I can't see how it makes football sense. Though at least you argument is based in logic and not a pathological dislike of the man.
  18. Dailly wasn't a bad squad filler last year, I still think he stayed a year too long. But good luck to him as he leaves a double winner. Most succesful season of his career?
  19. Re: Weir Btw; Season 08/09 Rangers Played 49 Competitive Games Weir played 47* Season 07/08 Rangers Played 68 Competitive Games Weir played 61* *Weir's game stats taken from Wikipedia, hoping they don't count friendlies. Sure with his age he may struggle to play as many games. Though perhaps not as much as some suggest. His pace, more so in Europe is more of a problem which is not really related to his age (he never had any).
  20. Lol, very good mate, made me laugh. Craid, hadn't heard that re: Weir and Broadfoot. Any ideas where you read. Encouraging to hear some players at least are working hard on their game.
  21. As brilliant as that site is, there's so much information to include it may not always be 100% clear. I'm almost certain that there is no seedings for the final qualifying round. That certainly is the popular opinion, though willing to be proven wrong.
  22. If we're getting rid of Boyd for inconsistency we're gonna have to ship out Miller, Lafferty and Novo to then and just start from scratch.
