My wee brother told me to have a look at Graham Alexander's penalty record. 66 in 71! Some going for a full back. Matt le Tissier has an even better average. 49 in 50. Just one missed. I know our own Nacho Novo and Kris Boyd must have pretty impressive ccareer stats. Novo having not missed one prior to joining the Gers. Any other good records out there? Other than Jen Lehman.

The old "if your Auntie had balls" arguement.

McNee now tellin us Celtic have greater strength in depth. Interesting that it was us who went on a run of 8 wins and a draw in our last 9 games relying heavily on fringe players and players who had hardly featured all year to bolster out push for the title.
-
Just flicked it on there. Duffy, Speirs, McNee. Nice neutral panel there. Anyway. Speirs said this Rangers team is not as bad as some Celtic fans like to say. Chased quadruple last year and going for the double this year. (Still a fud Graeme). Duffy followed this up by saying we'd spent loads of money whilst Strachan could not in his final year. Then proceeded to name players we'd spent significant sums of money on over the past 3 years or so. Even named Boyd as a significant sum. £400k!!! Less than Will O'Fud!! They don't half talk some crap. How is comparing our spending over 3 or more seasons comaprable with Strachans spening in one year! Anything to defend their beloved hoops.

I think there were comments at the time that the European bonuses were grossly inflated. Basically wiped out any profit gained from the run. I know people get a bit arsey when we appear to focus on them. But realistically it is only the two clubs competing for the league and the CL riches so anything that strengthens us whislt simultaneously weakening them is to be welcomed. Success on the field and finances are too finely entangled for the Old Firm to not consider the imlications on our opponents of our success and the chances of continued success.

Don't think this one has been on yet. Possibly the best highlights package visually but not sure about the tune personally. Someone wanna re-host it with a different tune. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bE7P4jJKdg]YouTube - Rangers SPL Champions 2008 / 09[/ame] -
Cheers. So if we can hopefully win a couple of league titles in a row and keep them out of the CL money it could really set them back.

I agree he deserves to be playing on Saturday and at the centre of the celebrations. :spl: But that's football and he will be happy enough having played a part in winning the main trophy.

Are you saying our spending on wages was approx 27 before the Euro bonus (34-7)? If so, discounting the figure of £34mil as it takes into account exceptional figures for bonuses we are unlikely to see in the coming seasons, is it really sustainable for Celtic to be spending in the high £30 odd millions compared to us spending circa £25-30 mil?

Cheers for the info guys.
-
Whilst it would be preferable they both make it, whoever comes in we will still be too strong. I'm not unduly concerned.
-
Cheque's in the mail (aye right ). Cheers mate. So we were still forking out more on wages than them until 2003. I'm assuming that means up until end of season 02/03 when Eck won the title on the last day. I can't quite remember the precise details of cost cutting but assume it really began in earnest for McLeish after that season. Since which Celtic have enjoyed somewhat greater title success. We have shown though that it is not all about the wages and titles can be won wasting considerably less on the wages of the like of Balde and Donati. We all now about our more precarious financial position, but if we play it smart over the summer and the next couple of years we could put Celtic in serious financial stress as their wages and finances do not match their successes on the field.
-
Personally I think he's crap and I always have. Never shows up against us, 1 game where he scored from long range aside. Ok so his diving/freekick combination gets them a few goals a season, but is that enough to make up for being anonymous for the other 95% of the season. £40k for him, i'd be well chuffed if they did that.

Just off to take a hammer to the piggy bank.

Just thought it would be interesting to see if we're getting better value for money or not in comparison to what we are spending these days.

That's pretty good quality footage Frankie. Is it just off a digital camera or something. -
I didn't suppose there were specific tables published anywhere, just a list compiled by a researcher/journo. Perhaps it is the Deloitte reports the journalist in question was referring to.
-
Cheers, as I say been seeing a big deal made with this and wanted to know how it compared with ourselves, previous years and projected sales.
-
Not specific tables necessarily, but i'm sure there will be comparisons of estimated wages between the top clubs?
-
Whilst i'm in the mood for asking questions about finances etc, Anyone have any reliable estimations of season ticket sales so far for us and them? Keep hearing they are in troube and need a big name appointment to turn around disappointing sales. How are ours though? Are we on track or ahead of schedule compared to recent years and projections for the coming season?

Was reading a peice from one of the papers they other day (I forget which but may well have been Cully in the ET). He stated a decade ago Celtic were 6th ( I think 6th) in a British table of total squad wages. He says they are now down to 28th. Any ideas if I can find out similar info on Rangers somewhere online and how are wages have changed over the years and in comparison to the rest of Britain/Europe? Cheers
-
Aye Must be referring to the one's in our team (disclaimer: unlike the real bigots I don't know the religious beliefs of the players in our team but there must be a fair chance we have at least one or two). It's gonna be a real summer of fun. Every day I find something new that takes the piss out of them or celebrates our title success. :spl:
