  1. I'd been thinking about this for a while myself but thought there was no way I could accurately record all his major goals in terms of on field success and the enormous contribution he has made to the club's income. For example I wouldn't have known what the penalty in florence was worth financially. And it would be hard to ascertain the full benefit of the Helicopter Sunday goal in terms of league position, bonus and entry into the CL. So it is a great read from the ET for once. One playaer who has more than paid back his transfer fee and then some. Whatever people say about his deficiencies as a player, his contribution to the succesful and proud history of this club cannot be denied.

Sebo? :fish: Agree, Barry makes a good point. I'm possibly one of the posters who has said sell him if the money is right. However, he obviously can produce that little bit of class that perhaps our other midfielders cant. He's had a year to settle in and hopefully this year can produce his best on a more regular basis.
  4. According to the Sun it is Celtic that is not for Martinez, not the other way round Charlie.
  5. No room for logic when debating football. That is turnning into a bit of a nightmare.
  6. We'll have played half a season by the time the real thing comes around.
  7. Del Piero had a bit of a rennaisance this year, well judging by his CL performances where he scored some top quality goals. Both good shouts though. Particularly the Italian. Always liked watching him play, but his name didn't occur to me when thinking of this earlier.
  8. Well start your own thread on it then. Would be a hard pick right enough (that's why I said possibly, didn't want to commit to it without giving it though).
  9. Dunno why I apologised. I never made it. Possibly my favourite non-Ger.
  10. .....but couldn't not share this video: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3CqR6h8pxOo&feature=related]Bergkamp[/ame]. Opens with the best goal of the 1998 World Cup with one of the best bits of (homo-erotic) commentrary ever. Some amount of unreal goals scored.
  11. Get on with it or i'll start deleting your posts at random! I'll have a look see if I have any photos that might help. Any specific requirements that make good photos for a banner?
  12. Childish but brilliant: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LT6q05lZK9k]YouTube - Nacho Novo v Samaras[/ame]
  13. Always room for two more double winners at Rangers! :fish:
  14. Never heard that comment before. Always thought he was a useless, overrated Aberdeen player anyway. Surely the worst for that sort of thing is Billy Dodds!!!
  15. Jess was at Rangers! Had to Wikipedia that. Never played. In my defence I was 1/2 years old whilst he was here. As a youth I take it?
  16. Noticed a headlin on the BBC website. Another greedy footballer? Step down. Sideways step at the very best (if Man City's millions get them up competing around 5th/6th this year). Poor career choice. Can only be for money.
  17. Far do's. I'll let him off then. It seemed there was a fair bit of hype about Van De Broeck (sp) considering he was being signed for the youth team.
  18. Van de Broeck. Bagci. Did these boys ever play past youth level??
  19. Hadn't even read all the names tbh. Just scanned through looking at some of the key ones (imo).
  20. Tony Adams with Wim Jansen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. Been working on my MS Paint skills.
  22. I was having a look back through posts to see who made them before. Is Scooter awol these days?
  23. Jack Ross was at Falkirk last year and by all accounts had a decent season, as much as you can expect at St Mirren anyway. Must have heard of Dorman, scored about 7 goals in as many games in the latter half of the season. Not heard of before or since though. Not sure about Langfield either. Cerny sounds a better shout. Lee Wallace looks a cracking prospect (as does Dixon) but Papac was a consistent performer for the league champions.
  24. I think, individually, few of our squad are CL quality. Arguably Mendes and Ferguson (if, as looks unlikely, he stays and finds form). Maybe Bougherra, we've yet to find out. After that we are struggling. For CL football, we all know what we are going to get. The defensive counter attacking football of 07/08. I would see finish 3rd in a CL group (where would be seeded to finish) and a run in the Europa League as reasonable success. Boyd will most likely have a far harder time in Europe as a lack of pace will be more apparent. Having said that, most the squad will be up against it. Even Bougherra may well look out of his depth unless we can find another quality CB to partner him. I don't mean to be so pessimistic, just realistic. Rather than worry about the merits of an individual player, we need to find what we did in 07/08 and that is a team that was greater than the sum of its parts. Like Porto in 04, or Greece at the Euro's. Domestically, we know we can compete. In fact the evidence is there, if Smith loosens the reigns a bit, that we are too good for anyone in Scotland. The issue is ensuring our players turn up in the right frame of mind (unlike at the Cup Final) and that there are less Falkirk, St Mirren and ICT (the 2 defeats) type performances and more Celtic 4-2, Dundee Utd 3-0, Hibs 3-0 performances. If we can manage that we should be looking at 2iar as we have undoubtedly been the best team in Scotland for the past two years. The squad size is going to decrease. Hopefully it will be mostly dead wood out. If star performers are to leave to bring in money, hopefully it will be McGregor/Ferguson and we keep the other top players to retain the quality of the first XI. Then we will be relying on youth players to fill in where squad players previously did. This should be good for their long term development whilst still keeping us strong enough to gain the required results. Here's to 53. :spl:
