Ng on mission to meet McCoist and taste European glory
Frankie replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Interesting question. Let me try and find out. What I do know is that, despite claims elsewhere, he's never met Paul Murray. -
I'm not an expert here but can you show me the floating charge over the stadium? Is that possible?
-
I agree a members scheme whereupon we'd have a supervisory board 'under' the club's executive board would be by preference.

Ng on mission to meet McCoist and taste European glory

As with all bids the info is thin on the ground. Believe me I've asked for names but have got nowhere. However, I do know the person supplying me the info is genuine, experienced and not easily 'duped' for want of a better word. His record at Hougang is hardly impressive but IIRC he only bought the club 2 years ago and I'd fancy his investment there is on a different level from what he (and his partners) would be doing at Rangers. I posted some more info in the other thread. -
I'm pretty sure the were talking about the £800-1000 mark. Obviously that will be too rich for some but payment schedules may help. What's more important is what say we get for this cash.

Welcome to the forum mate. First off, I understand and share your concern about all bids. From what I'm told about the Ng offer, it is indeed a consortium made up of wealthy Asian-Pacific businessmen. Apparently, it will have no debt and no borrowings to secure - he's after a clean, fully-funded CVA. Their initial plans are firstly to stabilise the club then grow it organically via the emerging markets in their part of the world. Sure they have money behind them but they will not be throwing it away as we've seen before. Instead they want the club to be self-sustainable and feel the best way to do that is to find new revenue streams outwith our own saturated domestic market. This will be done via raising our profile in Asia and exploring the brand opportunities there - such as merchandise, direct delivery media and other projects. Now, as others have pointed out, I agree this is thin stuff and well, to be frank, a bit too good to be true for my liking. That's why I've been eager to stay neutral and ask reasonable questions of all bids. All have their pros and cons and the fans must be part of the decision-making process going forward.

Ng on mission to meet McCoist and taste European glory

Like I say, OTT. But apparently the guy does have a genuine fondness for the club. I'm more interested in the nuts and bolts of his offer and I find them pretty positive and welcome his financial assurances. Of course, as said all along, without knowing the finer detail it's impossible to get overly excited and I'll keep the salt handy. It's a real shame we're still in the dark. -
I understand this is fairly common but given the involvement of Ticketus you'll forgive my concern. It's a shame that other securities cannot be considered instead.
-
Yeah, all fair comment mate. It's a shame that we're effectively powerless to stop the same thing happening again though.

Hoping to have more info on the NG bid today. For the moment, Singapore say they want continuity in the dug-out if successful. Their board members all know McCoist well. If their bid is successful, they will meet with McCoist immediately to discuss future plans. Hoping for more news later. -
I'd be astonished if PM felt this was a good idea. Fan groups must find out if this is true as a matter of urgency.

RST Twitter account now saying loan security may be based on assets? Does this mean club assets such as the stadium or training ground? Don't fancy the mortgage route.

I find Ng's media work a bit OTT if I'm honest. Not sure if such comments are helpful but at least he's positive and ambitious I guess. -
Do you think Ticketus would accept personal guarantees given what has happened with Whyte? I'm not so sure.
-
Honestly I'm really not sure what you mean. I can't see how some would know and withhold the info from their peers.
-
Not at all - I'm genuinely unsure what she means. The fan groups either know or they don't. I don't think it's betraying any confidences to say, yes we know what the security is and it doesn't affect the club.
-
I'm confused. Are you saying there is some sort of information heirarchy within the fan groups and their boards? Appreciate you trying to find out.
-
I've heard Thursday mentioned but D&P are anything but predictable.
-
Plg said they don't know which, to be honest, is what I expected. With the greatest of respect if I were them, I'd be finding out soonest.
-
Apologies for labouring the point but I'd have though the issue of security was something the fan groups would insist on knowing before agreeing to backing any share issue. Acknowledge privacy on some matters but as CJ says withholding anything may not be the best way of gaining support.
-
You may have missed this question earlier plg but do the fan groups know what security the Blue Knights have offered Ticketus for their funding? I think it's an important point and we need to know before contributing to any share issue.
-
I think SDM could have been a good owner but his ego and lack of accountability by his board/fans meant it ended in disaster. As for fan ownership, I'd like to think it was possible but our fans are extremely fickle and apathetic which would make such a solution very difficult to achieve. A membership scheme and supervisory board is agreeable middle ground but even the Knights haven't said if that's a likelihood or not. We're getting the 'significant fans' stuff but I don't see any carrots.
-
It's a great shame that our fans remain pretty much powerless to affect the process. Unfortunately I think all bidders are well aware of that.
-
All valid questions/concerns and I think they have been talked about plenty times. Can't answer them all but IIRC, Ng has said he won't be running the club but leaving this to nominal board. Like you, I'd like to see these people break cover so we can make up our own minds on their alleged expertise/wealth but it's not a surprise to see any of the bids retain privacy until such a time they're successful. As I said throughout, we don't know enough and it's impossible to back anyone as it stands. Believe me, I've told my contact that which is why I've always been keen to highlight any valid criticism of their bid.
-
I'm sure you'll concede that with your relationship to PM being so close, no other bidder was likely to be overly open with regard to what they had to offer. I think the fan groups should have kept their distance for a bit longer and not been so supportive of the Blue Knights. I do appreciate that you've not written off any other bid either (other than encouraging people to ask questions) but I think the fans hold a lot of power here and it could have been utilised better. As an aside, do you know what security the Blue Knights have offered Ticketus for their funding? I think it's an important point and we need to know before contributing to any share issue.
