From Richard Wilson A series of meetings over the weekend will clarify the immediate future of Rangers. When Dave King, the former Ibrox director, flies back to Scotland tomorrow, he will discuss the issues surrounding the club with the key individuals and ascertain whether or not an agreement can be brokered. Either a consensus is reached that brings all sides together, or entrenched views are carried into the annual meeting and subjected to a shareholder vote. King will meet with Sandy Easdale, who along with his brother James owns or has the proxy for around 25% of the Rangers International Football Club shares. Discussions will also be held with Paul Murray, whose reappointment to the board - along with Malcolm Murray, the former chairman, Scott Murdoch and Alex Wilson - is backed by a group of institutional shareholders who hold around 28% of the club between them. Both sides expect to have confirmed support amongst other shareholders, but the reality is that neither can be certain of winning a vote at the agm, which looks likely to be held in December, at least if the venue is to be Ibrox. While commitments at the stadium prevent the meeting being held at the stadium until then, Rangers have previously held their agm at different venues in the city. The status quo is unsustainable, though, with only James Easdale and Brian Stockbridge, the finance director and company secretary, sitting on the RIFC plc board. While legally acceptable, it is not suitable for a company of RIFC plc's needs, and the onus is on the Nominated Advisor (nomad), which manages the listing on the Alternative Investment Market, to appoint new board members, a chief executive and a new chairman who meet with broad shareholder approval. Paul Shackleton, of nomad Daniel Stewart, has been meeting shareholders to this end. While Daniel Stewart are out of their depth operating at this level, they are very much under the scrutiny of the AIM regulators. King had agreed to become chairman, and completed all of the relevant paperwork, but his appointment has not been processed. With the Easdale brothers - Sandy sits on the Rangers Football Club board - effectively the seat of power within Ibrox, they are in control of the next stage of proceedings. If they can reach an agreement with King, who is prepared to invest, probably by way of underwriting a fresh share issue, a united front could be achieved. The alternative is to make their own boardroom appointments and lobby to have them retained on the board at the agm vote. King is a long-time associate of Paul Murray, and would support Murray's appointment to the board. He also recognises the need to meet with the Easdales, who have a stake in the club. The exact nature of the Easdales' agreements with Blue Pitch Holdings and Margarita Holdings - two investors who were part of the original consortium fronted by Charles Green that bought the business and assets of Rangers Football Club plc in liquidation last summer - remains unknown. In effect, though, the quest is for stability, both immediately and in the long-term. King is a potential chairman in waiting, while the two Murrays, Murdoch and Wilson are additional board members in waiting. An interim chief executive is also prepared to step in, along with the new directors. King is also almost unanimously backed by the supporters, who will rally behind his next move. As fans themselves, the Easdales are believed to want the best for the club. The challenge is now implementing that. http://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/football/shared-motives-but-still-some-talking-to-be-done.22510424

RST - Jim McColl and Paul Murray to meet three fan groups
chilledbear replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
You can't win with some, they will always criticise when they see the letters RST together. Not suggesting anyone on Gersnet of course. -
What that shows is how Rangers Fans have cleaned up their song sheet. Could this also not mean as we as a Support have stopped certain songs and add-ons, they have decided to go after more. Some say no matter what we do, they will never be satisfied.

Good to hear. King and Easdales in attendance -
I've been standing for it for over 60 years but it doesn't mean I like the song.

1] D'Art used the words 'guilty''responsibility''mislead', it sounded as if we were to take it seriously. 'Bloggers' isn't insulting, though some insult their readers, yourself and D'Art apart. 2] 'Automatic support for Paul Murray or Dave King', if we have anyone else to support against the present Board I will be very surprised. As you know the 'hatred' for PM is all consuming in certain circles, it gets to me that this hatred seems to be more important than the safety and well being of Rangers.

First time on this thread for a while and I'm reading about Van Vossen.

It's Rule Britannia that gets me, and don't get me started on God Save The Queen.
-
Re your 2 reasons. 1] Do Bloggers actually think they influence the Support? I enjoy reading some, yours among them, but they are only someones opinions. 2] As far as I can see, there is nowt complex about it, you either trust the present Board to continue running Rangers Football Club or you want someone else. I wouldn't trust the Easdales or Stockdale with a piggy bank.

I'm sure all those who prefer Rangers songs will start the singing next Home game. Whether we sing these songs or not, surely we agree arresting folk is over the top. I wonder who they are offending inside Ibrox ?
-
Taken from FF Sectarian Songs that are now being targetted by the Focus group include Include - Carsons Army (We're the volunteers of the UVF) Build My Gallows (Altogether for the YCV - Described as being not the YCV of the 1916 WW but the right wing youth element of the UVF?!) Fathers Advice (**** Bobby Sands he's Deid is now being classed as sectarian) No Pope of Rome (no nuns and no priests **** yer rosery beads) Focus are filming the crowd and if you are identified and witnessed singing these songs you will be arrested for this Im not wishing to dicuss the rights and wrongs of this, to me the whole world has gone PC mad, Ive spoken to admin about how I got the information and thought it was only right I try and warn fellow Supporters. ----------------------------

Statement on behalf of the Rangers Supporters Association, Rangers Supporters Assembly and the Rangers Supporters Trust. The events of the past week have caused further anxiety among Rangers fans and we now call upon the club and their advisers, Daniel Stewart, to clarify a few matters as quickly as possible. The next few weeks are a critical period for us all and, after what we've been through, we need some measure of reassurance that there will be stability soon. Firstly, when will the club AGM be held? The delay resulting from the Court of Session ruling last Monday followed by the resignations of Craig Mather and Brian Smart leaves the current Board of Directors extremely vulnerable. Whilst we welcome the words of reassurance from Brian Stockbridge that the club's finances are stable and operations will continue as normal, we feel it is imperative that the AGM is convened as a matter of urgency. Secondly, given the level of concern among fans regarding the ownership and finances of the club over the recent past, and the various investigations that have been undertaken, we feel it is vitally important that the individuals that are behind both Blue Pitch Holdings and Margarita Holdings are made known to remove any doubt that there are connections to either Craig Whyte, Imran Ahmed or Charles Green. Both Walter Smith and Ally McCoist have spoken of the need to "cleanse" the club of all the rumour, speculation and innuendo. The identity of the individuals behind these two shareholder groups is a significant part of that "cleansing" process. Thirdly, we call upon the Easdale brothers to clarify their position going forward. They are now in a prominent position both in terms of their shareholding and influence on the Board and it is important that fans understand their view of the future structure of the Board and the running of the club. The club has adopted a very defensive position recently in efforts to rebuff allegations and clarify misinformation. Now is the time to take a positive stance and provide the fans with the clarity and factual information we request and to take the lead in shaping the way forward.

Is this correct? These developments leave only finance director Brian Stockbridge and non-executive director James Easdale on the current board, which prevents the club from calling an Annual General Meeting.

Forgotten Priorities At Rangers - Richard Wilson
chilledbear replied to chilledbear's topic in Rangers Chat
The piece in the Scotsman by English is as near as we will get to what is happening at Ibrox. Irvine working the Easdales from behind on behalf of others. -
http://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/football/forgotten-priorities-at-rangers.22467274 Fifteen months have passed since Rangers began the 'journey back to the top flight'. For all the trauma and economic damage that preceded it, this was still an opportunity for the Ibrox club. Starting in the bottom tier, with the faith and commitment of the fans fully restored, Rangers could rebuild. It was a chance to enhance the football operation, and restore alliances within the Scottish game; to revive the best of the club. Progress has been made on the field, but otherwise it is an opportunity squandered. Seven directors have departed, two chief executives have stood down and Rangers International Football Club are now on their third nominated advisor (nomad), which manages the company's listing on the Alternative Investment Market. That is a period of grossly damaging upheaval, and regret ought to be the overriding emotion once the anger subsides among the fans. Charles Green promised much with his brand of chutzpah and gruff charm, but the hyperbole has evaporated to leave a state of alarm. The mood among staff within Ibrox is despairing. Craig Mather's departure leaves the club without a chief executive, and Bryan Smart's subsequent decision to stand down means RIFC has just two board members. It was with a hollow smile that Kenny McDowall answered a question on Friday about whether the coaching staff might look to add to the squad in January by saying, "we don't know who to ask". Black humour was a coping mechanism during the worst of the administration process last year, but should have been banished now the team are performing so capably. The nomad, Daniel Stewart, has been trying to find consensus among the shareholders, but the firm are out of their depth in coping with the demands of opposing sides. It is more likely to take discussions between Sandy Easdale and Paul Murray to seek a solution to the need to appoint new directors and a capable chief executive and chairman ahead of the forthcoming annual general meeting. If not, AIM will step in. The regulators prefer to leave the nomad to sort out issues but if there is no progress by the middle of this week shares could be suspended, something that would infuriate the institutional investors. Easdale and Murray represent two groups of shareholders. Easdale holds the proxy votes of the likes of Blue Pitch Holdings and Margarita Holdings, the mysterious funds behind Green's consortium, while Murray is working on behalf of the institutional investors who want credible directors and proper corporate governance restored to the board. If no decisions can be reached before the agm, decisioon reached then will be the final arbiter. Non-executive director James Easdale, and Brian Stockbridge, the finance director and company secretary, will be up for re-election at the agm, while Paul Murray, Malcolm Murray, Scott Murdoch and Alex Wilson will be nominated as new directors. The two groups of shareholders have essentially the same number of confirmed backers, so the vote is too tight to predict. If it wasn't, the Easdale brothers would simply appoint their own directors and executive staff safe in the knowledge they would prevail at the agm. Instead, they are prepared to open discussions in private. Off the field, Rangers are a mess. There has been no progress rebuilding the club's battered reputation other than the widespread acknowledgment that their fans have rallied to the cause in remarkable numbers, home and away. The club still have no voice or influence in the power structure of the Scottish game, let alone within Uefa or even politically. Until new directors and executives are in place, Rangers are damaged. The relationship with supporters has broken down too, with protests at every match. The Easdale brothers are now front and centre, their motives and intent still to be revealed. Former director Dave King is ready and willing to take the role of RIFC chairman and the necessary paperwork has been completed, but no progress has been made on his appointment. Contrary to certain briefings, neither the AIM nor the SFA are likely to prevent his return as a non-executive board member, and the support would welcome his experience and commitment, yet he is still on the outside. Meanwhile, the football department is under-resourced, outwith the first team. There is no scouting network, fewer youth coaches and the sports science department badly needs investment. Rangers were seeking to rebuild in such a way that on their probable return to the top flight they would be strong, able to compete, sustainable and working in partnership with the fans, but that remains out of reach. "There's no scouting structure, since Neil [Murray] left," McDowall said. "We've got enough contacts, but we need to get the whole thing up and running again. A club of this size has to have a scouting network." There are reasons for optimism, though, with the first team developing into an effective unit and young players emerging into promising talents, the most accomplished being Lewis Macleod. "He is as good as anybody I've worked with," McDowall said. "Even if we'd stayed in the SPL Lewis probably would have broken in. He can handle the temperament and play that level of football. He's having to learn [playing on the left], but he's young and he has the ability." Macleod offers reason for hope at a time when Rangers fans are mostly aghast at the state of their club.
