From FF. This is from the Bromgrove Standard from the 26th PROMISING footballer Jordan Gibson has spoken of his determination to make his mark at Glasgow Rangers after leaving Bromsgrove Sporting to seal his ‘dream’ move. The 17-year-old is set to make the switch from the Victoria Ground to the 51,082-capacity Ibrox Stadium this weekend as he embarks on a career in professional football. Having suffered setbacks at West Bromwich Albion, Stoke City and Wolverhampton Wanderers, a full-time contract did not look like going the Bartley Green youngster’s way. But Gibson refused to give up on his dream and when he was offered the opportunity to impressive coaches at Rangers, he told The Standard he was determined to give it his all. “It’s a bit of a dream, but I have always believed,” he said. “I was released by West Brom, and then went to Stoke, but had to leave because of transport issues. “But those experiences have helped to motivate me. “People were saying last year ‘what are you going to do after school?’ And I didn’t know. So when I got the call from Rangers I knew I had to make the most of it. “I was a bit nervous at first, but after a few days everything felt normal. I trained with the first team some days, got to know people and played in two games which went well. “My dad said to me ‘we are expecting a call in half an hour, so I am going to come to yours and we’ll wait for the call’. “He came and said he had received a call about an hour ago and my mouth just dropped and then he said ‘you’re in’. “I got up and just ran around the whole street. It was mad.” Gibson, who joined Sporting last year, admitted the club’s u18s manager, Trevor Carter, had played a big role in helping to propel his career. “He knew what I wanted to achieve and he knew the scout was watching me, so he played me every week even though the team was mostly second years,” Gibson said. Rangers, who reached the UEFA Cup final in 2008, missed out on a return to the Scottish Premier League last season after losing to Motherwell in the play-off showdown. But Gibson believed this could work in his favour as he bids to break into the first team under recently appointed manager Mark Warburton. “If they had gone up I would have had less opportunities as more money would have gone into the first team, so hopefully this year we will go up when I have made a name for myself,” he added. “I will be playing for the u20s regularly and just get a call up whenever. But the new manager is meant to be all about giving youth a chance, so hopefully I can breakthrough by Christmas.” Gibson played in a variety of positions at Bromsgrove, but academy boss Andy Parr believed he would make an ‘excellent’ attacking midfielder. “He has got a bit of class about him and has got a good footballing brain, so I think he has got all the attributes to make a career in professional football and do very well,” he said. “To have someone come through really quickly has been really good for us and I am confident he will progress at Rangers.”

A Covenant - a clear case for transparency

I agree D'Art and this is the time to push for it, after all that has happened if not now, what chance in the future. -

I see a unity behind this Board and the new Management team. There are those who criticise everything, but to my mind they are very few, but because of social media are given a bigger voice than they actually are or deserve. -
A rumour on twitter. Not only does Warburton want Winks from @SpursOfficial apparently he also wants Ryan Fredricks on loan. Right back/Right midfield (Rumour)

On the white board, I get you now. Thought you had turned into Mark Warburton.

Could be wrong but is it not Stoney.
-
I thought that would have been his first move, bringing in some of his own backroom people. Have to say I haven't seen anything to confirm this.

Mark Warburton has insisted Rangers are still battling to pull together a deal for English veteran John Eustace. The former Derby midfielder arrived in Glasgow with his father and agent for talks this week amidst expectations he would sign a deal with the Ibrox club. Despite being shown around Murray Park and Ibrox, however, the 35-year-old returned south without signing terms. Leeds United and Burnley are also reported to have an interest but Rangers boss Warburton says his club are still working hard to get their man. ‘We are making good progress,’ said the Englishman. ‘It’s about both parties coming together and meeting all the relevant points. ‘He is one of the players – they are few and far between – who have that experience to link it all together. Also off the pitch to add value and discipline to the squad and lead by example. ‘I don’t think there are that many players with that quality around. So we are working hard and hopefully it can come together. ‘If it does all well and good. If not then we have to keep looking.’ Warburton has already secured former Hearts skipper Danny Wilson and Wigan defender Rob Kiernan this week, but admits the Scottish Championship is a hard sell to players in the English market and beyond. ‘If you look at the first-team aspect, the first thing we have to do is use the loan market fairly well as well as the permanent signings,’ he continued. ‘That means getting young ones in who recognise the benefits of playing in front of 45,000 to 50,000 people. ‘The obvious negative I will throw at you is Scottish Championship football – but the benefits here far outweigh that. ‘So we have to get the players onboard and take the club forward as quick as we can. It’s as simple as that really.’ Rangers released 11 players after failing to win promotion to the SPFL Premiership, placing Warburton and assistant David Weir under pressure to build a team capable of going up this season. Did you wonder where the £10 for the RSL goes?
chilledbear replied to Ser Barristan Selmy's topic in Rangers Chat
They don't like when you question where the money goes. RM is funny just now. -
Just back, a good turnout from all Services past and present with Rangers Supporters, some with colours on ( Derby Loyal had their flag with them). Had a quick look at the wreaths, ones I noticed were from, Rangers Football Club, Rangers Supporters Trust and Maryhill and Drumchapel Rangers Supporters Club. Heartwarming to see folk give the old soldier such a send off.

Paul Murray, the Rangers vice-chairman, has hinted strongly that Scott Allan is an Ibrox transfer target by describing him as exactly the type of player that the club should be trying to sign. http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/sport/football/scotland/article4479402.ece
