Velicka set for rangers return

Recommended Posts

Andrius Velicka is set to return to Rangers after his loan spell at Bristol City was cut short by injury.

The 30-year-old Lithuania striker ruptured his cruciate knee ligaments in City's game with QPR on Tuesday, just a day after joining the club on a season-long loan.

He will now be out for the rest of the season and Robins manager Gary Johnson is expecting him to return to Scotland for treatment.

"He was the type of player we needed and it's hard to find the right one," he told the Bristol Evening Post.

"I imagine Andrius will go back to Scotland for treatment, although that has yet to be decided."

Another 1mill player where we have had next to zero return.

To be fair to him , he scored some really important goals both at the start and end of last season , also if the manager doesn't pick him then he cannot really be blamed

I agree he scored a few important goals in the run-in, but players are judged overall, and as such looks a waste of £1M.

Not a personal go at a good honest big guy, just a judgement that if Walter thought he only merited half a dozen games, he clearly was not worth the £1M price tag, and that money could (and should) have been better spent. Remember he was bought pre-Kaunus when we bought 3 strikers to add to the already over-subscribed strikers department at the club.

None of this is Velicka's fault, but it does add to the overall assessment of his worth and value.
