Why is Coisty at the club, what is the plan set out for him or by him, is he tainted by association with the managerial style of WS, more to the point why have so few put him forward as the successor to WS.

 

 

Why is Coisty at the club? Starting with the obvious, he's Walter's Assistant Manager. He followed him from the Scotland where he was instumental in bringing in a club style atmosphere back into the squad following the disasterous Bertie Vogts regime. Similarly, following PLG's ill fated spell, there was lots of dressing room upheaval and bringing Coisty back to Ibrox would seem, to most, a pretty obvious call. It was pretty well touted at the time, and has been much discussed subsequently, that he was Walter's successor when he decides to call it a day.

 

what is the plan set out for him or by him - probably a bit of both. Succession planning is crucial to long term to long term success so it would seem obvious that the club had this in mind when appointing him. From Coisty's point of view, he left behind a lucrative television career so there has to be some long term prospects in doing so. The carrot of the manager's job would prove difficult to turn down to any bear in his position.

 

is he tainted by association with the managerial style of WS That seems to be the perception at the moment. As others have said, if Walter steps down and after delivering another SPL title with Coisty taking over, people may very well have different perceptions.

Look mate you have been on here for a few weeks. You have only made posts that are totally negative and lacking in any back-up to support your points. No you don't have to nod to everyone on here but you do have to support rangers. 100% negativity is very suspicious.

 

Oh come on. I could name several 100% negative posters on here. It's hard to be positive these days. The only timposters are easy to spot and the posts are normally along the lines of "git it up yeez yooz ur pyoor pish n aw rat".

The only problem is that the man who put the "heir apparent" long term strategy in place, is the man who was allegedly looking for a quick sale of the club to a suitable buyer, strange business practice.

The sad thing is the manager is one area where we should be prepared to spend quite significantly on, to get a decent candidate. The more we spend on a manager, the more money it will likely make us in the long term. A cheap option isn't going to solve anything. Management is one area where we should be prepared to go over budget. I'd certainly rather have an expensive manager in the dugout than dross like McCulloch, Miller, Lafferty etc.

 

It's the same with The Scottish national side. They should be prepared to go a bit over budget on a manager because it will pay dividends should it work. Jim Jeffries or Jimmy Calderwood isn't going to turn Scotland around just like McCoist isn't going to turn Rangers around.

 

Managers who command high wages don't want to be scraping around in the bargain basement for players. Scotland and Rangers jobs in difficult times can easily ruin a prestigious manager's career. Just look at Vogts and PLG.

 

It's easy to say we should pay for a big name, but the question is who would take the job?

Knowing our luck we would end up with a boby williamson " he's a good blue nose " type , but maybe that's doing AJ a disservice , mind you he wants to keep Walter so maybe not

PLG went to PSG i don't see how he ruined his name at Ibrox. There are still plenty of Rangers fans who feel he was a good manager stabbed in the back and i am one of them.

He went to PSG, did very little except flirt with relegation then get the club to a bit below where they should be (a bit like Rangers finishing 3rd, or at best a distant second), got the sack and is now the manager of Camaroon. Doesn't sound like his career has taken off to me. And he has shown nothing to suggest we should never have sacked him.

Agree to a certain point , however the rule the dressing room is where Murray let him down , however LeGuen and I was delighted when he got appointed , made serious mistakes before a ball was even kicked.
