Also, a big well done to Kyle Lafferty for not reacting to the Loovens assault on him. I always doubt when players say they are changed - but that was the first big test of Lafferty's temperament and he came through it with flying colours. Got up, walked away and let Loovens lose the nut !

 

There is not ONE of their players that I would have in our starting XI. Not one.

 

I do think that Hooper looks like a decent player though - his goal aside he does look to get others involved in play - but there is no way he could hope to displace Kenny "Timslayer" Miller with the way he is playing.

 

BTW, that was an absolutely CLASS finish from Miller on the volley - the ball looping up and coming from the "wrong" side makes it a very difficult finish - but he did so with aplomb.

Another take on the Broadfoot pen and karma:

 

I don't know how cold a dish could get after two and a half years but when referee Collum sounded his whistle to award a penalty kick to Rangers on Sunday afternoon, I would imagine to Kirk Broadfoot it tasted sweet.

 

At the same venue almost 30 months to the day, Broadfoot was tripped by Scott McDonald on the edge of the Rangers penalty area as they challenged for the ball. The defender collapsed forward and McDonald went with him.

 

Penalty awarded and the resultant goal had as much a bearing on the league title as any of Celtic's other dark deeds that season.

 

Broadfoot has had to wait a long time - and titles and medals have been won in the interim- but the football gods decided to balance up the score when he caught the baldy Swede napping in the box for the spot kick.

That game was brilliant, arguably better than the 3-2 Cup final the year before.

 

Klos, Ricksen, Moore, Amoruso, Bonnissel, Caniggia, Ferguson, Arteta, Lovenkrands, De Boer, Mols.

 

Seeing that line up, it is a pretty much awesome looking team. Around that time I thought we were on the down after selling off Albertz, Gio, Reyna, Tugay a few seasons before that, but looking at it now it looks so attacking.

 

Maybe says McLeish didnt get some credit he deserved on occassion, although its hard to believe that team scored 102 goals one season then were rank the next. If Prso had signed a bit earlier and been added to that then it would be been cracking. The only thing I suppose was Caniggia, De Boer and Mols were coming to the end of careers (Mols due to injury) and Arteta hadnt fully blossomed yet.

 

Lovenkrands was always superb at nipping in and scoring like that. A player i wished we kept for a few more years.
