Whittaker signs new 5 year deal - Official

Recommended Posts

I'd like him to stay but I don't want the club held to ransom either. I think he is worth giving a substantial increase if he is on the £7k p/w as rumoured. £12k-13k p/w wouldn't seem unreasonable for an established first team player and Scotland International who can cover a number of positions. But if Kenny Miller can get £50k p/w at Bursaspor, you can see why his head might be turned.

I'd say Whittaker merits about £12k - 15k.

If he's been offered more than that and still rejects it, he can leave. Unlike Miller Whittaker has never been sensational for us. Not even close.

Apart from being able to "play" in a number of positions I don't think he would be a great loss, to be honest, at times he only fills a jersey as opposed to "play" in a position. If I recall correctly he was bought as a full back which, IMO, is his worst position. Says it all for me.

If he does not sign quickly we should just move him on.

It does stink of an Agent trying to make as much money for himself rather than what the player want. Although ultimately its the player who has the final say.

if he is gonna get mega bucks elsewhere who are we to stop him?

At the end of the day he probably feels all that can be done in Scottish football has been achieved. He's been a good servant to the club, but it's time for change. The player done well for us in the circumstances, good luck to him wherever he ends up.

According to his agent, Whittaker wants to go. Fair enough, take the cash and buy a replacement. Broadfoot will do in the mean-time.

We really shouldn't be relying on Broadfoot Frankie because he hasn't shown very good signs of being able to stay free of injuries. Rather than looking at buying someone like Wallace, we should now be focussed on buying another player who's comfortable in both full back positions. A player like Phil Bardsley would be ideal and he was unsettled last summer, but he got into the Sunderland team playing left back and signed a new Deal in November, so he'd probably be pricey now. Maybe we'll consider making the sheep an offer for Foster.

I would have preferred him to stay, he can have a great influence on the game when in form, but if he wants to go, bye bye!

Just get as much as possible for him, which might be difficult unless there's more than one bidder. I don't count Bursaspor
