Youâ??ve got no dignity

Changed message now that he owns the club.

He has increased the wage bill in the short term [new contracts] so we can sell with no fear of players running down their contracts.

Their will be an enormous amount of downsizing before long.

Tax Bill or not.

I Stepped Up And Paid

We Shall Not Be Moved

... and you would hope this cuts the rumour-mongering down to a minimum. Of course, every article that features Whyte in the press also has and will have the compulsory 50m-case mentioned, as if there's someone within Scotland who don't know about it yet. You wonder what people would say if we would have a line in every article on Celtic saying: "Of course, this is the club that covered up the deeds of a paedophile."

As for the wage bill, it appears to be obvious that SPL top wages even at Rangers shouldn't top the 10k margin. Else we pay out wages that will exceed income - as they do now. Can such a wage of 0.5m per year get you class players? Only if you look hard enough and aim for what is realistic for a club within Scotland. Even if we "only" pay 0.5m per player, we'd still probably easily double the wage bill of e.g. Malmö ...

What people should understand here that this is by no means the end of the world or Rangers as a power in European football. The latter essentially - if you are realistic - ended in the early 1970s. Much like the rest of Europe, we became also-rans behind the Italian, Spanish, English, and German giants. And there's a reason for it and you can't solely blame this on Rangers - be that players or managers. Now, we have to meet a cut and once that is done and we are healthy again, we can look forward to another attempt at glory beyond Hadrian's Wall. If it helps, spend a thought on those supporters of minnows like Queen of the South, Stranraer or Albion Rovers. Their supporters have never seen 1/1000 of our success and still go to support their team through thick and thin. Our chins should be up, now that we are facing a "thin" spell for a few months or maybe a couple of years. For we know that Rangers will be there again challenging ...

There was clearly a storm of discontent brewing, not sure how big it was and whether the papers were exaggerating it, but Whyte brought forward his next-planned press briefing and seems to have spoken fairly candidly about the situation. Surely this is exactly what we've been wanting from our owner for the last however-many-years so must be seen as a step in the right direction?

As for the rest of it, its no real surprise but at least he's come out and confirmed the situation, setting the record straight as far as he can do in his position.

As to what he actually said before the takeover as opposed to what was said by "sources", I don't think he's contradicted anything has he?

Thought he spoke well and seems to have a genuine affection for the club. On the wage bill said nothing we all haven't been saying for years you can only spend what you make, think he genuinely thought we would make the CL when he increased the wage bill so he must feel has let down as the rest of us.

Come Jan can any of us say we wouldn't sell one of the big players for good money and bring in a replacement for less it's what we have all been shouting for, for years buy low sell high, we are a business just as much as a football club some of us may not like it but that's the way it is.

On that fat turd Liewell he didn't go far enough should have pointed out this is SFA board member having a pop at a member club and as such should have resigned asap, until we start hitting those scum back the way they hit us it will never change I know it's not our way we behave with more dignity but when your fighting scum you have to fight like scum these arse holes live for the day we are no more they can't see that Scottish football dies without us but in there deluded world they think they will get a move away from Scotland if we are no more I say enough of trying to be nice with this scum no more joint efforts at anything.

"Sources" were always Hay McKerron, Whyte's PR people.

I believe that the support have been misled. I'd have a lot more respect for him if he had outlined his plans from the beginning instead of having his PR people release bullshit like £15m in season 1 etc.

Is the £7m saving that he's looking for going towards the £5m spend that he's committed to?

Or is that a silly question and the £5m spend just going to be largely funded by the sale of existing players as appears to have happened this summer?

The 7mill save will be just that a save and why spend 5mill a season if you don't have to balance the books if you sell 6mill of player then that's what you have to spend if you don't then you can have the 5mill don't see anything wrong with that.

It's obvious that the 5mill includes wages so it really just one or two 1.5mill players on 4year deals 5mil gone not good reading but that's the SPL world for you.
