taking from the official site

ALLAN McGREGOR and Steven Smith have been rewarded for their fine early-season form with extended contracts.

Both players have just put pen to paper on new deals which have secured their services for the future

McGregor, whose current deal was due to expire next summer, has signed a two-year extension that will keep him at Ibrox until 2009 while Smith will now remain a Rangers player until 2010.

Paul Le Guen expressed his delight at capturing their signatures and revealed he hopes Chris Burke, whose deal runs out at the end of the season, will be the next to re-sign.

He said: "It seems we have reached an agreement with Allan. It's great for the club.

"He will stay until 2009 so to sum up I am happy!

"It's the same for Steven Smith. He will re-sign until 2010.

"We want to try to keep all the best young players at the club - that's our priority.

"We will carry on discussions with Burkey and we hope we can get an agreement with him.

"We are hopeful but it is up to him. I want him to re-sign."

Great news that the pair of them have signed. Stevie Smith has the potential to develop into a real talent and McGregor should be our number 1. Obviously not in our managers eyes but hey could be worse we could have a Romanov as a Chairman :P:D
