...for fans' display of 'zombie' banner.

Celtic have been served with a notice of complaint by the Scottish FA, accused of breaching four of the governing body's rules.

The Parkhead club are accused of failing to stop their supporters displaying an offensive banner during their friendly match with Norwich City in July.

The banner in question depicts a gunman shooting a zombie, which is walking in front of a gravestone with a Rangers badge and an ape wearing a Rangers scarf. It is said to mock the liquidation of the Ibrox club.

Celtic have until next Thursday to respond to the accusation, with a hearing scheduled for Thursday, October 11.

Swift justice then.....

So Charles Green can barely finish an interview without being up on disrepute charges for that same interview.... but it takes them two full months to work out that CFC should be charged.

Can we also throw in some comedy charges against Peter Lawell after this statement....“We are keeping to that. We are coping well. Our supporters have re-engaged with the club. Our season ticket sales have been fantastic, taking account of the economic conditions. The three home Champions League games are sold out"

Not according to the official attendance last night Pete....53,373. What's the excuse now? People bought tickets but decided not to go "cos the telly" was good? I suppose they don't call him Peter Liewell for nowt....

CELTIC face a Scottish Football Association charge over an alleged offensive banner among their fans in their pre-season friendly against Norwich.

The SFA today issued a notice of complaint alleging four rule breaches over the banner relating to Rangers, which appeared in the Celtic support in the July 24 contest at Parkhead.

The SFA charges allege Celtic have fallen foul of the rules by failing to prevent fans from bringing the banner into the ground and displaying it.

The club are also accused of failing to deal effectively with an instance of unacceptable conduct, â??by allowing spectators to retain possession of the banner after it had been initially displayed, which allowed them to display the banner on a second occasion during the above matchâ?.

The banner in question is understood to have featured a gunman shooting a figure next to a gravestone with the Rangers badge on it, as supporters mocked the impending liquidation of the Ibrox club.

The banner featured a silhouetted gunman emblazoned with a green shamrock taking aim at a zombie-like figure in front of the tombstone.

A line of figures depicting a reverse evolutionary process from man to ape was drawn on the opposite side of the grave.

Celtic have been given until next Thursday to respond to the notice of complaint with a principal hearing date set for October 11.

Lawell will make sure it stays by a warning or small fine.

Who is SFA compliance officer i.e.celtic-supporting Vincent Lunny kidding ? this banner was offensive but other than a slap on the wrist the SFA will do absolutely nothing about it.

Meanwhile Rangers supporters arriving at Annan Railway Station last Saturday are subjected to something more associated with Stalin's USSR whereby they'd photos taken & ID requested upon arriving at the wee insignificant town.

Perhaps Lunny could do something useful for a change ( rather than helping his beloved Shellik) & investigate this.

BTW the green brigade have storeroom at the brendanbeu(obviously approved by Liewell & co) where they are allowed access to store these banners b4 games so as they can avoid any police searches that might not allow these banners into the brendanbeu on matchdays. Of course that won't happen cos the police generally let them do as they please at the brendanbeu & away games too judging by the IRA songs sung
