Hearts have failed to pay all of their first team players on time for the second successive month.

STV understands six of John McGlynn's squad are yet to receive their September salaries, which fell due on October 16.

It is not clear whether the manager has received his wages to date.

As per SPL rules, it is understood the Gorgie club are in the process of informing the league of their failure to pay.

Regulation A6.22 states Hearts have two days to tell the SPL which players have not been paid, as well as detailing the amount outstanding.

Hearts should also be subject to an immediate registration embargo, although the SPL have previously said such sanction is not automatic and would first be considered by the board.

Apparently Hearts had a transfer embargo applied after last month, but it was kept secret for some reason by the SPL.

HEARTS will discover tomorrow if they will be hammered with a points deduction.

The Jambos were yesterday reprimanded and warned about their future conduct for being late with some of their September wages.

The same SPL panel of chief executive Neil Doncaster, secretary Iain Blair and Dundee United chairman Stephen Thompson will meet tomorrow to decide a penalty.

Hearts are already operating under an automatic transfer embargo for their first hold-up.

But the fact their cashflow problems are continuing means it’s likely they’ll be hit with a heavier punishment from the 18 available, which include fines and points being docked.

The SPL introduced strict rules on wage payments this summer after the Jambos’ problems last year.

Crucially that means the Jambos started with a clean slate this term and their previous crimes can’t be taken into account.

Hearts chief executive David Southern hopes the SPL will be understanding of their situation, even though he can’t rule out more wage woes in future.

He said: “If we are heard fairly and see a balanced approach I don’t see a points deduction being appropriate or levelled at the club.

“I believe that this was a very fair hearing. We pled guilty to the breach of the late September salaries. All that was discussed was the late September payment.

“It’s very difficult times, we are actually talking about countries going out of business, never mind companies. It’s difficult to predict the future, it’s very difficult economic times not just for football clubs but for companies in general.

“We understand it’s very important to pay wages on times and we’ll do everything we possible can but without a crystal ball it’s very difficult.

“We need to make cuts where we can make cuts but it’s very important we don’t disturb the core of the business.”

Hearts had claimed last month’s problems had been partly due to the SPL being behind with commercial payments to clubs.

SPL chief executive Neil Doncaster had admitted for the first time this was the case but denied going easy with the Jambos. He said: “These are new rules the clubs brought in during the summer.

“We were obliged to treat Hearts as a first-time offender. We had to treat Hearts exactly as we treat any club. We’ve a hearing on Wednesday in respect of a second charge. I can’t prejudge the outcome. The potential punishment for any breach of SPL rules is exactly the same.”

The Jambos beat Motherwell 1-0 on Sunday to end a run of just one win in their last eight.

Defender Darren Barr said: “We can only think about ourselves and what we do on the park.

“Everything else takes care of itself so hopefully we can carry on talking about the performances.

“We’ve got a good bunch of boys and pros here.”

How the fuck can Steven Thompson sit on a panel that decides if a rival club should have a points deduction applied to it. I dont think I have EVER seen a bigger conflict of interest. Incredibly stupid that a club chairman can decide on the fate of another club.
