At best pre-contracts for the summer would have been agreed.

 

In some cases probably, but then there was West Brom who went in with an offer for Naismith despite not being able to play him.

That was in April wasn't it? Any deal he got would have begun when the summer window opened, we had no permission to sell players outside of the transfer window.

It was an offer to buy. It's not like we would have been paying his wages after selling him. We could have maybe kept him to the end of the season, but all things considered that would only have been doing West Brom a favor
