Richard Wilson - Herald - 16th May

Recommended Posts

Not the first time Wilson has mentioned the TRUE financial position at Ibrox.

Isn't this open information for all, if people would look at the right places?

The question would obviously be: "Who owns Rangers?" People cast wary glances towards Easdale et al, talk about "new owners" and whatnot. But even if they get a greater share than anyone, some 12% or whatnot, are they the owners? The biggest shareholder is not exactly the owner, is he? He may get a director's place, but there it stops? Just asking. As far as I see it, someone has to buy up 50+% of the shares to become "the owner" of the club and the next question would be: is that currently possible?

This is rubbish and he continues with it. Maybe someone tells him?

King and another party "are monitoring" events ... that is essentially a non-info and the whole article is a rehash of the one of the BBC.

Probably a slip of the tongue (or a sub-editor's pen). To all intents and purposes the oldco will be liquidated though.

Other parties are monitoring the situation but it's debatable just how much influence they have.

no. blue pitch are an origional investor the easdales supposedly came in at the ipo. if they even did.

But the fact that they are an original investor doesn't preclude them from being the Easdales, does it?

About Rangers Football Club

Rangers Football Club, formed in Scotland in 1872, is one of the world's most successful clubs, having won 54 League titles, 33 Scottish Cups, 27 League Cups and the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1972. The Club's loyal and sizeable supporter base, both in Scotland and around the world, enables the Club to boast one of the highest percentages of season ticket holders in the UK, with over 38,000 having been sold for the current season. Playing at the 51,082 seater Ibrox Stadium and benefitting from the world class 37 acre Murray Park training facility, the Club has been a dominant force in Scottish football for decades. This world class stadium, training infrastructure and a loyal and passionate global fanbase provide an excellent foundation for the Rangers Group.

Currently the Club is competing in Division 3 of the SFL, though it is the intention of the Directors and the manager for the Club to return to top level football as soon as possible. The history, facilities and ambition of the Club are such that the Club remains a desirable destination for foreign and domestic players alike. The first team squad is managed by Ally McCoist, the former Rangers forward, who remains the Club's all-time leading goal scorer.

Generally speaking even having ownership of 50%+1 share doesnt make you the "owner" - it makes you the majority shareholder and there will be shareholder votes that you can, on your own, either approve or veto. There are likely to be other shareholder votes that require "super-majority" which means you need 75%+1 in order to push through a vote or resolution.

Having 50%+1 vote certainly, though, gives you a very dominant position in terms of how the club will be managed.

As Frankie says, this is merely timing. RFC Plc WILL be liquidated - hence why BDO are in doing the liquidation process just now. Why we continue to get all hot and bothered about something which no longer affects the CURRENT entity that manages the club is beyond me, especially over an entity that WILL be liquidated.

We have far bigger issues than worrying about whether the previous company is given the proper terminology in terms of status.
