The present board have got the club into the state it is in at present so i would urge Dave King to keep his money in the bank until things improve at the club because i feel the any more money invested with the present board is just a waste of good money .

Capital for the club is a waste?

The board remuneration thing is an issue but it's not the ONLY thing capital is required for by any means.

And given how much they have blown through in 13 months with virtually no enhancements in assets or revenue increasing income streams you would trust them with more money ?

I have a great investment fund guaranteed to generate 50% profit per day forever.....would you like to buy in........

Remember the high one off costs involved in the money spent so far.

The ones that should have been already built into the IPO document ? So clearly they don't know what they are doing. So they didn't forecast them ? Very poor.

600k of a pay off to someone who resigned in disgrace when the club could gave sued him for breach of contract ?

You would still trust them with your money..... Foolish.

Barry Ferguson - Dave King as chairman will do for me

THE strangest thing happened to me yesterday morning when I picked up my iPad and downloaded the Daily Record. I actually read a Rangers story that made me feel happy.

Dave King returning to Ibrox as chairman? I swear to God, I even had a wee smile to myself at the thought of it.

And then it struck me. It has been almost three years since I last read a positive story about my old club.

Almost three years of pain, suffering, in-fighting, scandals and embarrassments. Almost three years of Rangers being disgraced on an almost daily basis by the very people who were meant to be looking after it.

Let’s be honest, it has been a hellish experience.

And that’s why yesterday I would have had a spring in my step if it wasn’t for the cast on my ankle.

I had almost forgotten what it felt like to read a good news story about Rangers. And believe me, Dave King will be good news for Rangers.

Listen, people will be lining up to have a go at him. I’ve already heard them talking about his tax case in South Africa, suggesting he shouldn’t be trusted.

Well let me tell you something, I’ve met the man a few times and there is no doubt in my mind that Dave King is someone who wants what is best for his club. Put it this way, anyone who thinks he’s getting involved to make money out of Rangers is talking out of their SARS.

His battles with the tax authorities don’t concern me. They are over and done with.

What concerns me is that he is a Rangers man who wants to sort out the mess that has been created in the boardroom and who is willing to invest a small fortune to make the club stable.

And let’s not forget, this is a man who lost a massive fortune when the old company went into liquidation.

He lost £20million and yet he’s still prepared to dig deep and do what is right for the club. I’ll take a man like that any time as Rangers chairman.

Dave King isn’t here to make a fast buck. He has never taken a penny out of Ibrox. In fact, he’s lost 20 million quid and it has still not scared him off.

Anyone else might have run a mile but Dave obviously feels he can go into the boardroom and start repairing the damage that has been done.

He won’t be doing it for the fame or the headlines either and that’s another thing I like about him. He’s a quiet guy who keeps himself to himself.

I met him a few times at Ibrox. I’d love to tell you we became best mates but we didn’t. We’d just have the odd chat and I always found him to be pleasant.

But there was one meeting I’ll never forget, in the summer of 2006, when Paul le Guen took the team to South Africa for

pre-season.

One day at the hotel, right out of the blue, we were told a bus was coming to take us to Dave’s house for dinner.

He went out of his way to look after us, gave us a slap-up meal and showed us around his gardens. He even took me down to see his wine cellar.

I never plucked up the courage to ask him how much some of those bottles were worth but he could probably have bought and sold Charles Green and Craig Whyte combined with the contents of one of his cabinets.

And even though he had something like 10 chefs and 14 servants and a small lake in his back garden, he struck me as just a normal, down-to-earth guy. He’s a self-made man who has worked his butt off.

Deep down he’s still a Rangers fan from Castlemilk. He was just glad to have the team there, like any fan would be.

And now he’s a fan who is about to become the club’s chairman. I think they call that living the dream.

So what makes a good Rangers chairman?

I’m not stupid enough to start giving out advice to a man like Dave King but the past three years have shown everyone how NOT do it. I’d like to see him lead the club in a similar way to David Murray and before Rangers fans start screaming and bawling at me, let me explain what I mean.

I know Sir David is not popular with a section of the support. I know they blame him for much of what has happened and that’s fine – I’m sure he’s made mistakes in life just as the rest of us have.

But even so, I won’t hear a bad word against him because of the way he treated me as a human being during my time at the club.

He’d come in once or twice a month and he’d speak with the players like men. It made us feel good to know the guy at the top cared about us and was taking an interest in the team.

I had some pretty difficult conversations with David Murray too. You always knew you were in trouble when you were sent through to Edinburgh.

I made that journey to his office a few times and always had a knot in my stomach.

When you got that call, you knew you had let the club, the fans, the manager and the chairman down and it was time to face the consequences. Going up those stairs was the walk of shame.

But I also knew when I got there he would deal with me fairly. Hard but fair. Like a man.

If I had problems or needed advice I knew I could phone him. I appreciated the way he dealt with me.

Sometimes I thought it would be easier for him just to ditch me but he always left that up to his managers to decide – whether it was Le Guen or Walter Smith.

The time I knew it was up for me at Rangers was the one occasion when I wasn’t sent through to Edinburgh, after the carry-on at the Scotland hotel (I’m sick of the term Boozegate).

We didn’t need to talk.

We all knew it was time for me to leave. I served a club suspension, came back into the team when I was needed then left at the end of the season. But there was no ill-will or bad feeling.

I looked up to Murray as a leader of men and that’s a quality I hope Dave King brings back to the club. A lot of standards have been allowed to slip over the past three years.

A lot of damage has been done to the image of my club. It’s been robbed of a lot of its

old class.

If Dave King can sort these things out the Rangers support will be forever in his debt.

At long last, this could be the start of happier times
