SFA Notice of Complaint: John Gemmell (Stenhousemuir)

Recommended Posts

What did he actually say?

The targetman, nicknamed ‘The Beast’, tweeted: 'McCoist is a p****, game against Stenny should be midweek?... Why, so we are f****** after working all day whilst your boys can lie and get a massage for three days before checking their £5k a week wages are in? Away and ****off #Embarrassing…Just fed up listening to guys like McCoist moaning when they’ve got the best job in the world.'

Gemmell quit Twitter soon after his rant, claiming he was forced to shut down his account due to online abuse. But a good-natured McCoist embraced the Stenny forward at the end of Rangers’ 2-0 win in Stenhousemuir but he accused the 29-year-old of missing the point of his festive fixtures outburst.

'I get called worse in my own house,' McCoist laughed at the time. 'The concerning thing was that about 60 per cent of our dressing room agreed with him!'

Gemmell was dealt with internally by his Club who were obviously and rightly embarrassed but there is no need for the theatre and expense of an SFA prosecution. Not in the (football) public interest, is a phrase that comes to mind.

This is even more unnecessary fall out following the posturing of the Eastern Horde.

Celtic and large swathes of their support have got a helluva lot to answer for. They've changed what was once entertainment and distraction for a large part of Scotland into something that can barely be recognised.
