Didnt know that. Looks like we are a rehab for goalies. Provided training etc for craig gordon who walks into champ league footy with them. I used to weep but now i just care a little less!

IF this is true, it's disgraceful!!!

We had a VERY capable backup keeper in Scott Gallagher who, I believe, could have pushed Bell for the No.1 jersey....but no, we let him go & he joins are previous No 1 keeper @ Hearts.

We sign an ageing journeyman in Simonsen, who so far hasn't exactly set the heather alight bar 1 good save.

Cammy Bell is out for a reported 2-3 weeks, and we're looking at bringing in another 28 yr old keeper, whom we previously let go.....what message does that sent to the young keepers trying to make their way through the ranks with a view to making the 1st team???

At this rate we will lose ANY decent young players as they will take the view that there is no future with RFC....

Didnt know that.

Robinson mentioned it himself in press articles just before the Cup final against Raith at Easter Road.

He stays near Murray Park, so even although he was preparing to compete against us at Easter Road, he was allowed to come in and train with us and use the facilities. AFAIK, he was allowed to do the same the season before in the build-up to the QotS Cup game where they put us out on penalties.

Ex-Ger or not, there is absolutely no way that a keeper who's preparing for a cup game against us should be allowed to train at Murray Park. It's total stupidity.

Aye, here's one of the articles from just before the Raith cup final where Robinson is talking about having been training with us -

Raith Rovers new boy Lee Robinson hopes for repeat of Ramsdens Cup success

1 April 2014 11.22am.

Lee Robinson is ready to wreck Rangers’ Ramsdens Cup hopes for the second year running – despite training with the Light Blues for the past month.

The former Ibrox keeper helped Queen of the South dump Gers out of the tournament at the quarter-final stage last season by starring in a penalty shoot-out and he will now take on Rangers in this year’s final, having signed a short-term deal with Raith Rovers last month.

The 27-year-old certainly has the inside track on his opponents because he has been keeping himself in trim with the Rangers boys — up until this week that is.

He said: “I had been training at Murray Park recently. The training ground is near my house so it was really good of Rangers to let me train with them but I felt I should stop as the final came closer.

“It was great to see some familiar faces and I was pleased to see my old Queens team mate Nicky Clark. It will be good to come up against Nicky in the final. He’s done well to get his move to Rangers.

“I want to have a good week with Raith now and then we will see what happens on Sunday.”

The Sunderland-born keeper can’t quite believe he’s playing in the final for the second year running, especially against his former club in a sell-out at Easter Road.

He was wondering what the future might hold when he was snapped up by Grant Murray after spending a short spell in Sweden with Ostersunds SK last year.

He said: “It’s amazing that a year later I’m playing in the final again. I feel a bit bad because I haven’t played in any of the other rounds.

“Last year was brilliant for me and it would be nice to win it this year. We were underdogs last year because Partick had a really good side and were doing well in the league.

“It’s the same this year but we will give it a good go.”

Robinson is a bit of a spot-kick expert. Dean Shiels missed and Anestis Argyriou hit the post as Queens knocked Rangers out in the quarters last season after a 2-2 draw and then in the final he came into his own.

He saved Aaron Muirhead’s penalty in extra-time and in the shoot-out withThistle he saved two and scored one as the Palmerston side lifted the silverware.

He said: “I fancy myself at penalties and the final could not have worked out any better for me. I saved one during the game, saved two in the shoot-out and scored one.”

Robinson came through the youth ranks at Rangers and was highly rated by the staff. He had loan spells at Morton, St Johnstone and Queen of the South but left in 2009.

He admits that he was to blame for not making the grade and putting more pressure on Allan McGregor and Neil Alexander.

He said: “It was my own fault that I didn’t make it with Rangers. When I got an opportunity. I didn’t make the most of it.

“It wasn’t really about who was in front of me. I think you mature and you learn.”

Robinson does feel for regular Rovers No 1 David McGurn, who suffered an achilles injury against Morton last October that wrecked his season.

He said: “I have known David for years and it’s bad that he’s got his injury. I would feel for him if I didn’t know him but the fact that I have known him for a long time brings it home more.”

Of Sunday, he added: “Now it’s all about relaxing and concentrating on the final. We have a lot of experience in the team and I’m sure all the lads will be up for it.”

I don't agree, but we all know what they say about opinions.

I don't see it as being that big of a deal. You honestly think that a significant difference would be made in the week before a game to a player's ability ? The guy would have been 26 and 27 - if he hasn't learned his trade by that age then he shouldn't be playing anyway.

Do we know he was training with the 1st team ? Or was he training with the youths and U20's ?

Personally I think it is being used conveniently. Had we won there would have been no complaint about it - in the Raith game he had 10 team mates that also helped defeat us - did they train with us too the week before ? IIRC, we only gave him maybe 2 saves to make in 120 minutes. Rather than get all annoyed at him training with us the week before he plays against us..... I would prefer we focused on the incompetencies of our own players on those occasions.

This isn't about the competency of the players or the result even. This is about the management of the football department. I know you don't like to go there and would prefer to blame the players..

I can see where you're coming from and agree with some of your points mate, but what I'm talking about isn't necessarily that a sporting advantage was gained, it's just that I disagree with the principal full stop.

It's absolutely not an attempt (certainly not on my part) to make any excuses, convenient or otherwise for the losses in those cup games.

You could argue that seeing Robinson in training at Murray Park gave us the inside track on him equally as much as the other way round, but it's not really the whole inside track thing which bothers me.

I'm only interested in the logic and straight-up principal of the matter as well as the overall professionalism of the decision making at the training ground.

Allowing the opposition's keeper to come and train and use the facilities at Murray Park for a month in the immediate build-up to a cup game (especially a cup final ffs!) is neither logical or professional.
