The Ibrox club are believed to have offered �£100,000 to the Bairns for the in-form, versatile 24-year-old who is also wanted by Wolverhampton Wanderers.

 

"This season is vital for the club, and it's crucial we have at our disposal all our current resources including Alan," said a Falkirk statement.

 

Meanwhile, the Bairns have signed Manchester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel until the end of the season.

 

Gow, who can also play in midfield, was on target in Falkirk's 2-0 Scottish Cup win at Berwick Rangers and hit a hat-trick against Dundee United on 1 January.

 

"Supporters should realise that there are a large number of clubs who appear to be interested in securing Alan's services and there will no doubt be further discussions during the transfer window," the statement continued.

 

Dane Schmeichel, 20, was recommended to Falkirk by City boss Stuart Pearce, who is a former team-mate of Bairns assistant head coach Brian Rice.

I think it's another case of Scottish clubs being too greedy and cutting off their nose to spite their face in the meantime.

 

You have to ask yourself why we have so much trouble buying less that world class players in Scotland while clubs complain of lack of funds.

 

It's not Rangers who are causing Scottish money to spend abroad weakening the whole of the association.

 

When we sell great young players like Stevie MacLean, we accept reasonable amounts and in this case about £200k.

I suppose, when it comes to an offer for anything you should always reject the first one as people usually come in lower than they are prepared to pay and if they refuse to budge the original offer is usually still on the table.

 

You then need to strengthen your position by getting other parties interested.

Don't think we'll up our offer for Gow as his contract is up at the end of the season so will be available on a Bosman. Don't think he is veiwed as an essential sigining, more one for the future, so sure Walter will be quite happy to wait until the summer to get him.

 

Never seen the lad in action but he does seem to be attracting quite a lot of attention, something that perhaps the 'Anthony Stokes' effect was deflecting from him earliar in the season. Whether he is Rangers class is another matter but someone must see something in him for us to have submitted a bid.
