Rangers board slap a BAN on the Daily Record as they bar us from Ibrox and Murray Park

UNPOPULAR Light Blues chief executive Derek Llambias tries to stop us getting the big stories. Good luck with that, Del.

THE Daily Record has tonight been BANNED by the Rangers board.

Our paper was this evening sent an email and fax by under-fire chief executive Derek Llambias that told us we are not welcome at Ibrox or Murray Park for matches and press conferences.

The message failed to detail any reasons for the move that has echoes of our sister paper the Chronicle being banned from Newcastle United.

The move comes after our top team – headed by chief football writer Keith Jackson - delivered a series of exclusives and hard-hitting columns which have have called into question the way the club is being run.

Llambias wrote: "Following recent reporting by your journalists in the Daily Record, I am writing to inform you that with immediate effect the Daily Record newspaper will banned from attending all Rangers press conferences and games at Ibrox Stadium and Murray Park."

Despite today's ban, we will continue to write the truth. Fans will still be able to read about their team – despite us not being welcome.

We will continue to report the ongoing crisis on and off the park without fear or favour.

The board face an egm on March 4 where Dave King will attempt to oust the current directors.

Maybe they have done something right.

The Daily Record’s right again as Rangers board reveal they can’t hold egm at posh Kensington hotel

MILLENNIUM Gloucester bosses close the venue to explosive showdown – and Ibrox chiefs claim it’s OUR fault.

RANGERS have tonight announced they will now NOT be holding their egm at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel in London.

As predicted by the Daily Record yesterday, the board’s preferred venue in Kensington won’t host the explosive showdown between shareholders, fans and club chiefs.

The Ibrox directors provoked fury when they announced next month’s egm will take place more than 400 miles away from the club.

Supporters speculated it was scheduled for the UK capital so fans wouldn’t attend.

But now the board will be looking for a new venue – because hotel staff fear there will be too much disruption to guests.

And, amazingly, they are trying to blame us at the Record.

Their statement read: "Rangers have today been informed that the Millennium Gloucester Hotel & Conference Centre which was the intimated venue for the club’s EGM on Wednesday 4 March 2015 is no longer available.

Rangers' Derek Llambias, Sandy Easdale, Barry Leach and James Easdale during the QTS Scottish Communities League Cup, Semi Final at Hampden Park, Glasgow.

"The hotel management at the Millennium Gloucester have taken advice from different quarters and concluded that the EGM cannot be managed without significant disruption to guests and neighbours.

"The hotel felt it necessary to take this position after receiving numerous complaints and false information from individuals purporting to be shareholders.

Where should the Rangers board hold the egm?

D’uh! Ibrox of course.

Sports Direct megastore.

A nuclear bunker.

A phone box on the moon.

"The board are concerned the situation was exacerbated by irresponsible and inaccurate media coverage.

"An alternative venue is currently being sought in the London area and will be announced as soon as possible.

"The board apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused shareholders due to matters out with their control."

Dave King called for the egm in a bid to oust directors such as Llambias and Sandy Easdale.

Toxic will still be free to feed his contacts at the Rebel.

Correct and it's very embarrassing that Jack Irvine continues to work for Rangers directors when the Club clearly stated they had stopped using the services of him and his PR company.

Ban all the newspapers in the world, they're never going to be able to paper over the cracks of lies that are widening as the weeks go on. Hopefully only a few weeks left of them being able to do this sort of thing in the name of Rangers anyway.

The first thing I have agreed with the current board doing in ages. The daily Rhebel has been no friend of Rangers for about two decades and should have joined BBC Scotland, Radio Clyde and others on the banned list many years ago.

Unfortunately the board are banning the Rhebel for having a go at the board and not for all the other bias and lies against us as a football club during their tenure. The enemy of my enemy is rarely my friend, he is still my feckin enemy.
