Ross County chief: chaos at Ibrox has caused sponsor delays...

Recommended Posts

I'm disappointed that he has weighed in with this pile of crap. I admire Ross Counties achievements and always had a soft spot for them. The fact is that Rangers are responsible and to blame for the mess they are in. However they are not responsible for the mess that Scottish football is in any more than its celtic fault because they are utter gash in europe ( only kidding it is their fault ..) now if the old spl had given rangers a leg up, forwarded them prize money rather than withheld it , found a way to keep them in the top league etc etc and they still fucked it up then they could have a go. Idiots..

We could also do as the Dutch have done in allowing the top teams to have a second team in the lower divisions. They will never be allowed to be promoted to the top division but it serves the purpose of a higher more physical standard for youth players of top teams and potentially better players in the lower divisions.

Spanish and German leagues do the same thing pete.

DJ: County chief out of order to blame Rangers for problems in our game

I THOUGHT the comments from Roy MacGregor in the papers yesterday were outrageous to be honest.

Rangers are being battered from all quarters at the moment and the last thing they need are people from Ross County having a go.

It is not our fault if County only get a couple of thousand fans at their games or that the SPFL can't attract sponsors to the game. It is up to the clubs and the league to make the game more attractive, not for Rangers to do it for them.

Yes, we have our problems at the moment. But you can't blame Scottish football's problems on us.

Even if Rangers were in the Premiership, County are struggling to get fans through the gate, as are Inverness, as are St Johnstone. What messages are they sending out?

There are a lot of teams struggling to get fans in and it is not because Rangers are not there. It is because they want to see good, entertaining football and Ross County, who are bottom of the league and could well be relegated, are not doing that.

I think it is a bit much for him to blame the problems of Scottish football on Rangers. He should look on his own doorstep first before he starts pointing figures at us.

If Rangers are back in the Premiership next year, it will be great for these clubs because the fans will travel and they will make a bit of money.

But we can't be interested in what they do. We can only focus on ourselves and how we can move forward on and off the park.

Nobody has given a toss about us for the last four years. It is not a case about what is good for Scottish football, it is about what is good for Rangers Football Club and how we go forward.

If you actually read the article he only mentions Rangers once and I find it hard to disagree with his point that as long as the biggest and best supported club in the land look like a circus the sport will struggle to find a sponsor. That's his point and it's a fair one.

We're struggling to pay salaries every month, our board make decisions that baffle everyone and are counter to our long term well-being. No one could state with any certainty that we won't have another financial implosion and find ourselves playing in the South of Scotland league. We're self-harming on an industrial scale.

I understand why people don't like other club's executives criticising us, but if you actually read what he said can anyone really take issue with it?

I can't argue or take issue with what MacGregor said at all.

The 'journalist' Alasdair Fraser appears to have tried to completely twist and warp what MacGregor said into something controversial, when in fact there's nothing controversial in it at all.

where would that leave the rule about dual ownership and having influence over 2 teams in the SPFL ? (or elsewhere)

Shouldnt impact dual ownership. It would be one club that has the registration and an allowance that more than one of their teams plays in the SPFL leagues. That doesn't change dual ownership at all.

Having influence shouldn't be a problem either - the 2nd club would never be allowed to play in the same league as the parent club. They also don't get entry into the Cups either.

They do in Holland at least they always did. I am not sure what the rules are on that though.

SPFL's cash boost hopes dashed as Sky TV clause...

...could keep Scots football in poorhouse until 2019.

By Keith Jackson

A SECRET clause in SPFL's deal with Sky Sports has given the broadcasters the option of extending their agreement, which was meant to expire in 2017, for a further two years - placing Scottish football a long way away from reaching the 70 per cent rise secured by the English Premier League.

SCOTTISH football is set to endure another four YEARS in the poorhouse before getting the chance to piggy-back on England’s latest TV cash bonanza.

Record Sport understands a secret clause in the SPFL’s deal with Sky, which was meant to expire in 2017, gives the broadcasters an exclusive option of a two-year extension. And although this should trigger a marginal increase in cash, it will be nowhere near the 70 per cent rise the English Premier League got in a £5billion package with Sky and BT.

Last night SPFL chief Neil Doncaster said only: “We are tied into a joint deal with BT Sport and Sky until 2017.”

But sources close to Hampden’s sixth floor insist Sky are in the box seat. As yet they have not indicated to the SPFL if they intend to exercise that option but a decision is expected soon.

Doncaster, though, will be hopeful of finding potential new future bidders.

It is strongly believed, for example, that Abu Dhabi-based beIN Sports were heavily engaged in the Premier League bidding and that their interest helped to significantly drive up the final price.

Our source said: “We believe there were a number of TV companies involved in the discussions with the EPL and the hope is that they are looking to find a way into the British game. For that reason, they may also wish to participate in any future talks with the SPFL.”

And who can forget in the summer of 2012 when Rangers were stupidly voted out the SPL, the sight of Doncaster & Liewell strolling thro' the airport departure lounge as they went to sign a SKY TV deal worth peanuts just to try & prove they didn't need Rangers ?

Scottish football is on its knees and skint. Similar smaller countries such as Norway, Holland etc have vastly superior TV deals.

If Kingco win this EGM I realise PM & JG will have much to do at Rangers but one of their top priorities must be the removal of Doncaster, Liewell & Regan from their positions in Scottish football.
