Keith Jackson: beleaguered SFA board prepare to rule on Dave King

Recommended Posts

still waiting on king as far as i am aware.

I hope his legal representatives haven't been silly enough to send documents via Air Mail or courier from South Africa because their postal and courier systems seem to be absolutely screwed these days. We've got family living just outside Johannesburg and they need to actually take their mail to Tambo airport to even stand a chance of getting it out of SA and even then it's completely untrustworthy. They go to the airport and send Birthday, Xmas cards etc 6-8 weeks in advance and half the time they don't turn up or turn up 3-4 months later!

It's Tuesday now and no verdict as yet. Wonder what holds them up ...

Forewarned is forearmed. Maybe he thinks he has given Liewell enough information, and is hesitant to give him any more details of his plans.

Has King may be 'tipped off' that they are about to reject him? Speculation obviously, but could explain his lack of urgency in the matter.

It would not be uncommon in a situation like this for the SFA to have given Mr King notice that they were "minded to declare that he was not fit and proper" but give him a final chance to prove otherwise.

That might explain the delay.

One would assume that he has made similar arguments to P Murray re being a member of the board when the club suffered an insolvency event so will have cleared that hurdle; but despite all that has been said about the SA regime etc etc his convictions for offences carrying a 2- year jail term might be more difficult to explain away.

In any event, he is well advised not to make any public comment pending the outcome.
