GS, I don't think Zelalem is a dud but that MW has brought him in to do a specific job of helping retain possession and have the ball flow between players. Because of the way teams are setting up against us I think he is often being forced to play the game 10-15 yards further back than would be ideal, especially in the first half of games when opposition players have more energy.

 

It works to a degree and helps tire out opposition players.

 

Had we signed Scott Allan, we might well have not gone for the Arsenal player on loan.

However, we were never getting Allan so other options had to be considered that took into account the way MW wanted us to play.

It was only an opinion and I'm far from being an expert.

 

But you don't need to be an expert to know that what a manager will want in an ideal scenario won't be quite what he gets, or at least not all the time.
