RANGERS daft Dylan lost his fight against a rare genetic condition at the weekend aged just 13.

RANGERS fans will pay tribute to a tragic young supporter at this month’s Scottish Cup final.

Dylan Brown lost his battle against a rare genetic condition at the weekend. He was just 13.

It is understood he passed away in Robin House children’s hospice in Balloch, Dunbartonshire, where he spent his final weeks.

In a statement on the Dylan Brown’s Journey Facebook page, the schoolboy’s family said: “Just wanted to let you all know that Dylan has grown his wings.

“It has been such a hard day for us all but one we will never forget.

“Until we meet again, sleep tight little man. We love you.”

Dylan was a huge Gers fan. He was visited by players including Lee Wallace and Nicky Clark and taken on tours of Ibrox.

Fellow fans who took Dylan to their hearts will honour the teenager with a minute’s applause during the 13th minute of the final against Hibernian on May 21.

On the Glasgow Rangers FC supporters’ Facebook page, one tribute read: “After the sad news

that Dylan Brown had passed away at the age of 13, on May 21, Rangers face Hibernian in the Scottish Cup final, so in the 13th minute, we would like all fans to stand for a minute’s applause in memory of young Dylan.

“Let’s spread the word and make this happen for Dylan and his family and show our support.”

A tribute on the Blue Sea of Ibrox page said: “Wee Dylan grew his wings and was taken by the angels from above. My thoughts are with his family at this sad time. Gone but not forgotten, wee man.”

Dylan’s aunt Donna Balfour said of the tribute: “The family are all very grateful. Celtic have also been in touch and are going to do a memory box for Dylan.”

The schoolboy, from Glasgow, had Sanfilippo syndrome, a rare genetic condition. It’s a progressive illness that causes severe mental and physical disabilities.

Know what would make this all the more of a touching tribute ? If the support of BOTH Rangers and Hibs BOTH agreed to honour the wee fella this way AND let the commentators know about it.

It would give credence and also highlight a debilitating disease - and would also show the world of watching fans that a sporting community, whilst being arch enemies, can come together for ONE MINUTE to unite.

Now wouldn't that be quite the sight..... but the kicking of Rangers wont allow it to happen, sadly.

Aye Craig, sadly I agree with you on both points. It would be fantastic if the whole of the stadium would stand in remembrance, however I wouldn't hang my hat on my them showing any decency. I hope that every bear on their feet will be of some comfort to the family that they are in our thoughts at this terrible time. It puts football in its place.

It's a minutes applaud Craig...it goes without saying that every decent person attending the match with the knowledge of what it's for will show their appreciation for the wee guy. Everyone.

Let's hope you are right Bearman and everyone in the stadium would stand in a mins applause to pay their respects, I don't know what the other lot will do?? I would like to think they would, but I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't.

It's not about the other lot, it's about young Dylan.

We show our respects and it's up to them how they honour their own decency.

I disagree, but only to the extent that this shouldn't be about young Dylan, but I believe it should be about the disease in general. Dylan's short-lived life should be shining a light on the disease, not just that young lad, as much as my heart bleeds for him and his family.

Until you(Generalisation) have visited a children's Hospital you don't realise how cruel the world really can be.

In saying that, what can now be done to save lives these days is also incredible. We say that Warburton has a magic hat but medical science has also produced some magical doctors and nurses. Unfortunately they couldn't save young Dylan but his death may help other kids survive in the future.
