Kyle Lafferty: I’d love Rangers return but fans may disagree

Recommended Posts

A very honest assessment there by Lafferty. You can tell he has now grown up and is not the daft wee boy he was then.

He is correct though that he has burned his bridges here with the fans and he would not have overall support should he come back. That has not stopped other players (Miller!) coming back anyway if they get an offer better than elsewhere. I suppose the difference is that Lafferty is a Rangers fan as well, and should he come back and score the winner in the first OF game, you can bet your last euro he will be accepted by the vast majority afterwards.

He was very inconsistent in his spell here, playing well at the start and end of the season but disappearing for 7 months in between. He also was used more as a wide forward for us, not a lone striker, and MW does like having these wide forwards so it wouldnt be the biggest surprise but I hope we go for better and MW respects the fans enough to not make this purchase.

I saw him at the Euros for the first time in years. Worked - much like Davis - his socks off in a essential average standard side, always willing, always there. From that perspective, he would be a decent addition. Would he score enough goals though? Hard to tell.

20 goals in the last four years and only once scored more than 7 league goals in a season for us. We wasted a fortune on him; let's learn from our mistakes.

I read the HITC site on newsnow rangers on the subject. Surprise surprise, from twitter they selected a bundle of folk saying they'd be delighted to see Lafferty back.

Twitter must be full of guys who don't actually watch Rangers play.
