FT Linfield 0 - 7 Rangers (Miller 11, 28, 31, 53; Kranjcar 25; Kiernan 27; Garner 83)

Hopefully a sign that we play better in a match where the opposition are doing something other than packing their box. It was mentioned earlier that they're just amateurs but that's not accurate. Linfield are semi professional exactly like the imps of Gibraltar.

And does this mean Brenda will get the message and park the bus. ;)3

I know that Craig, we should have declined and used the free weekend to try to find some cohesion and form ahead of next weekends biggie, not a kickabout against a pub team where all we can possibly gain out of it is injuries. Thankfully apart from a head wound for Garner we seem to have come through unscathed.

Sometimes we should be looking at the bigger picture IMO. If we were playing St Johnstone next weekend I wouldn't have minded at all about this, but we are not ready for the tims game and we have foregone a good opportunity to try to get ready for it in favour of a jolly.

Pub team, amateurs ... man, you are really at it. Each to his own, but you stretch it quite a bit.

And presumably that makes the team from Gibraltar who beat our next opponents "Pub team, amateurs" too so since we thrashed the "Pub team, amateurs" we played away and they lost when they played the equivalent away what do we have to worry about?

Match report on the Linfield website:

Long friendships were continued this afternoon at Windsor Park as Linfield welcomed Rangers over from Glasgow for Jamie Mulgrew’s testimonial. It was a fitting reward to a Linfield legend and Rangers supporter who has given so much loyal service to Linfield Football Club over the years since making his debut in August 2005.

How would you describe them then? We used to send our under 19's over every year and still beat them. As low as the standard has fallen in Scotland, the standard in NI remains as low as you get for top tier football in any country. I don't get any locals disagreeing with me when I discuss it with them.
