Gilks out at Ibrox Former Scotland keeper Matt Gilks set to quit Rangers after grown frustrated at lack of action

Wigan are thought to be among a clutch of clubs considering a move for the stopper.

RANGERS are on the hunt for a new goalie — with Matt Gilks set to quit the club.

SunSport can reveal Gilks looks to be on the brink of an Ibrox exit and Wigan are thought to be among a clutch of clubs considering a move for the former Scotland keeper.

Gilks, 34, only joined Gers in the summer and played in the bulk of their BetFred Cup clashes. But he has grown frustrated at the lack of action since Mark Warburton’s men lost to Celtic in the semi-final of that competition.

Gilks performed heroics in that game in October.Yet he was immediately dumped back on the bench for the league games that followed and hasn’t featured since.

It’s thought Gilks now wants more game-time with Wes Foderingham secure as the undisputed Ibrox No1.

Warburton has been on the hunt for at least one more outfield signing after landing Jon Toral on loan from Arsenal.

But he has now stepped up his search for a man between the sticks.Wigan boss Warren Joyce has made finding a keeper his No1 priority in January.

Adam Bogdan has returned to Liverpool after suffering a major injury. That has left 41-year-old Jussi Jaaskelainen as the Latics’ only senior keeper.

A strong back up keeper is something a club needs and a position were we have been fortunate over the years.

I wonder if McGregor would fancy a return, he lost his place to Marshall at Hull.

Wait, McGregor has lost his place to Marshall? As in David Marshall? What the f*ck is going on there?

Is it not because of McGregor's injury history ?

If based purely on the better keeper than there is no comparison !
