The Pre-Summer-2017 transfer rumours and hearsay all inclusive Thread

Tavernier's principal problem is concentration, attention span if you like.

I don't know how/if you can coach improvement in that facet of his game.

How many of our squad can you attach that label. So many goals conceded from basic lapses in concentration

CUT JACK SOME SLACK Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes urges Dons fans not to boo Rangers-bound Ryan Jack

The impending move of Jack to Ibrox has left Aberdeen fans raging but McInnes insists he is still fully committed

DEREK McINNES has urged Aberdeen fans to lay off Rangers-bound Ryan Jack at Hampden.

The Dons midfielder has been replaced as captain for the Scottish Cup final by Graeme Shinnie.

The impending move of Jack to Ibrox has left Aberdeen fans raging but McInnes insists he is still fully committed.

He said: “I urge everybody — the focus has got to be on supporting the team.“We need all the help we can get. There will be spells when we will be under pressure and the game might not be going our way and they shouldn’t underestimate the part they have to play in helping our team.

“Whatever team is picked, I’d like to think the Aberdeen supporters will get right behind us and help create a bit of history.“It’s too important. Any personal opinions, any side issues, aren’t the most important thing. It’s all about the team.

“Ryan’s been a fantastic servant to the club and this will be his last time involved with the team.“But we want everyone to have that winner’s medal at the end. That is the most important thing.”

McInnes revealed that he held talks with Jack this week and insists he has accepted his armband decision. He said: “Graeme will be my captain next season and we felt it was apt for him to lead the team out.

“It’s to try to take the sting out of the situation as there has been far too much focus on Ryan.“He has made his decision to move on and we have absolutely accepted that and have no problem with it.“But we are trying to be fair to everyone and it’s so important that the focus is on the team.”

I'm sure he is fully committed from a professional point of view alone and maybe even more so if he is actually a born and bred Rangers man. He never cut us any slack despite that so why would he be any less than fully committed for this. I actually hope they do boo him to leave a bitter taste in his mouth for the next time we play them and to let all see what a foul and nasty bunch they really are.

Of course if they do the record etc will gloss over it since they have Pedro bonding with fans to obsess over. Far more sinister than a support booing their own player in a cup final. I would love them to be booing his every touch then he scores the opening goal to frazzle and confuse their sheep brains.

Rangers target Fabio Cardoso as Pedro Caixinha scouts out new defensive partner for Bruno Alves

Fabio Cardoso is a Portugal Under 20 international playing for Vitoria Setubal

The centre-back would likely command a fee of around £1.25m this summer

Pedro Caixinha interested in Rashid Sumaila but is worried about work permit

Rangers are pursuing a deal to sign Portuguese central defender Fabio Cardoso.

The Under-20 international switched to Primeira Liga side Vitoria Setubal last summer after four years with Benfica’s B team. Under contract until 2020, the six foot one defender is likely to command a fee of around £1.25million.

Poised for a clear-out of the existing squad to supplement his transfer budget, however, manager Pedro Caixinha wants to pitch the 23-year-old in beside veteran countryman Bruno Alves next season.

As Sportsmail first revealed, Rangers retain an interest in Rashid Sumaila – known to Caixinha from former club Al Gharafa.

Concerned over the Ghanian’s likely fee and work permit status, however, Cardoso now tops the list of players earmarked to partner a reshaped central defence following the departure of Clint Hill and the anticipated exit of Rob Kiernan.

Reports in Turkey claim Galatasaray are also interested in taking Alves back to Istanbul where he spent three years with Fenerbache.

Former Celtic and Fenerbache striker Pierre van Hooijdonk insists the 35-year-old is precisely the kind of player Rangers should be targeting, however, saying: ‘If Bruno is still the player in my mind then that’s the kind of player they should be signing.

‘They are going to sign some older ones and there is nothing wrong with that, because Feyenoord signed Dirk Kuyt two years ago.

‘The main thing is they need to be fit. If they are fit they can do a job for you or any club. But if it becomes like a last move or a pension then you have trouble.’

Caixinha has a limited transfer budget to spend, and will try to shift players on to bolster the funds available.

Eight Rangers players are understood to be available with Barrie McKay yet to commit to a contract extension and Joe Garner, Andy Halliday, Josh Windass, Josh Windass, Matt Crooks, Harry Forrester and Kiernan also up for grabs.

Former Rangers winger Peter Lovenkrands, meanwhile, is one of four former players returning to the club this summer as part of an academy reshuffle.

The Dane, Stephen Wright, Andy Little and Brian Gilmour will be utilised in various roles.

Former interim boss Graeme Murty will take on a role as Head of Academy Coaching alongside his current post as Development Squad Coach.
