Video Analysis: Rangers attacking play (v Celtic)

Recommended Posts

Delighted to say we're now partnering with our friends at @EOSRangers each week to bring you some interesting video analysis of our games.

First up is our attacking play on Saturday - our defensive woes will be in a separate video tomorrow:

OK, this week doesn't make for great viewing but these really are worth a watch to see where we struggle in games.

Pena keeps getting dogs abuse, but here we see he was the main cause of most of our -- albeit limited -- counter-attacks.

Again, a real lack of quality and making wrong decisions.

Tactically, we were spot-on; hopefully the results come with repetition.

Pena, to me, is the pivot point for counter attacks, he's the key part forme.

He gets a lot of abuse for poor passing etc, but if you actually look at the passes he gets abuse for, its the killer ball he's attempting, very rarely does he pass backwards or sideways and to be fair, the position he's in, thats exactly what you're looking for!

Thought Pena was OK but was slow to release the ball when he had it and got crowded out a bit. But he was hardly the only one and not his fault if others hiding or out of position. Generally, we had to make more of our breaks, as the video analysis suggests.
