Miller speaks up about malicious and defamatory rumours

Recommended Posts

Lifted from FF:

Kenny Miller last night launched a blistering blast at Pedro Caixinha’s blatant refusal to clear-up a “malicious” and “defamatory” attack on his character.

The 37-year-old has opened up for the first time on the “nonsense’ which was attached to him when axed from the top-team squad.

Miller was sensationally dumped by Caixinha immediately after stories emerged about dressing room bust-ups between the former Rangers manager and his players following a 2-0 September loss to Celtic.

The 37-year-old was instantly the victim of insinuation.

As Caixinha spoke of issues staying in-house and leaks being plugged, Miller’s demotion to the Academy appeared to point the finger at him.

The striker was sick to his stomach. His personality being besmirched without a right of reply.

Caixinha’s unwillingness to clear Miller’s name when quizzed about the issue also upset the hitman.

Interim-boss Graeme Murty immediately recalled the attacker and appointed him captain as soon as the Portuguese left just over a month ago and the player has now had his say on the desperate five-week period he feared his Rangers career could be ended in incriminating and unfair circumstances.

Miller said: “There was just a lot of stuff going on. A LOT of stuff that was utter nonsense. But that was that.

“There was only one man who could have cleared it all up, but I’m not going to go into specifics on that.

“But why it happened, I don’t know. It was never ever clarified.

“Listen, I’ve not spoken about it publicly and I’m not going to go into any detail.

“All I’ll say is that it was really frustrating around that time because of everything surrounding the issue, which, by the way, was an absolute load of nonsense what was going on.

“Whether there were other agendas going on behind the scenes, that’s something I don’t know.

“But there is only one man who could have answered the question and cleared things up and that wasn’t me.

“Were there other agendas going on about why these things happened? I don’t know.

“All I can say is that there were absolutely malicious things going about.

“It was nonsense and defamatory towards me and my character.”

Miller displayed total professionalism during the period of exile and set a shining example to the club’s Academy squad, even though he wondered if his days at the club were done.

He said: “I came into work every day because there was nothing else I could do about it effectively.

“You don’t know the way it’s going to go when you’re training hard as always, but not playing every week.

“These things happen in football. It’s about keeping the standards you set yourself.

“I trained every day. If I’m not going to play then, I’m not going to play. That’s up to the manager in charge.

“It’s hard, it really is hard, and that can affect people in different ways.

“You know, I might have acted differently to that situation 10 years ago.

“But, when you have a wee bit of experience, you think more and the only way you’re ever going to get back in is by doing the work out on the training pitch.

“That’s the kind of mentality I think you’ve got to have.”

Miller even travelled to London to play for the kids against Brentford and continued: “Listen, it wasn’t ideal, but it was a game.

“You can’t go down there and put the tools away or throw the dummy out the pram. Straight away that’s a negative against you.

“There was nothing I could really do about it, that was the problem.

“You have to accept the decisions whether you agree with them or disagree with them.

“Each to their own, to be honest, because managers live and die by their decisions they make. And ultimately that’s the way it went.”

Watch for who wrote this puff piece in what rhag, and perhaps they will come out with an exclusive from "an insider" over the next few weeks. Its what Miller does.

Back in April, it was the Record that led the campaign of sorts to secure Miller a contract extension. Despite him getting one, I got the feeling that Pedro wasn't too keen.

The Record aren't consistently 'friendly' to individuals who offer them nothing in return.

---------------

Reading between the lines, Miller (directly or indirectly / possibly not the only one) was telling Jackson at the end of last season about a split between quite a few players and Pedro Caixinha. I know that Jackson was openly talking about 'the split' at that time, but didn't go to print with it, or at least not in as many words.

Instead it was about applying pressure when opportunity arose.

For me, you have a manager who was out of his depth/comfort zone and it's for the best that he is gone....but we have a player, Miller....who we'd be better rid of as well, both for football and other reasons. Thankfully his contract is up soon.

If I was Murty he would be in my office to find out he was dropped to the development squad for bringing this out hours before one of the most important games of the season. He is obviously trying to get the fans on his side because he knows they are against him at this moment. "Do it on the park and not in the papers."
