[FT] Kilmarnock 2 - 1 Rangers (John 39)

Recommended Posts

RANGERS manager Graeme Murty has made two changes to his starting eleven for today’s SPFL Premiership fixture against Kilmarnock, with Lee Hodson and David Bates replacing the suspended Ryan Jack and the injured Bruno Alves.

Hodson will make his sixth start for the Light Blues this season against his former club, with the 26-year-old featuring at left-back and Declan John moving to the left wing in a 4-4-2 formation. Bates joins Danny Wilson in the centre of defence with Portuguese star Alves out with a tight groin.

In between the posts for the visitors this afternoon is Wes Foderingham and in front of the club’s number one is a back four of James Tavernier, Wilson, Bates and Hodson.

In midfield Daniel Candeias will take up the right flank with Ross McCrorie and Jason Holt through the middle and John, who agreed a three-and-a-half year contract yesterday having previously been on loan from Cardiff City, on the left.

With Alfredo Morelos and Josh Windass in the last third of the pitch, Murty has pace and power in attack as Rangers look to bounce back from last weekend’s disappointing 3-1 home defeat to St Johnstone against Steve Clarke’s in-form side.

Joining goalkeeper Liam Kelly on the Rangers bench today are Jamie Barjonas, Fabio Cardoso, Ryan Hardie, Eduardo Herrera, Carlos Pena and Niko Kranjcar.

RANGERS: Foderingham; Tavernier, Bates, Wilson, Hodson; Candeias, McCrorie, Holt, John; Morelos, Windass.

SUBS: Kelly, Barjonas, Cardoso, Hardie, Herrera, Pena, Kranjcar.

Everyone frisked at turnstiles. Phones, keys everything out pockets. Hats told to be taken off? Tell you what guys it’s starting to put me off? This is supposed to be enjoyable but it’s like entering the jail at visiting time!

That should be taking place everywhere in the country though, it is the norm over here. If some crackpot pulls out a knife and has a go in a block full of people, perhaps families, rest assured that the security people would get drawn and quartered.

Need to stand up tall as Killie will try to have a go at us from the off, then hitting long balls to get us caught. Hence the 4-at-the-back AND McCrorie and Holt. Leaves us lacking some creativity through the middle, but Windass could do this, setting John, Candeias and Morelos up.
