A YOB scrawled a sick slur about the Ibrox disaster on a medical centre wall just days after the anniversary.

Police are probing the twisted message, which was painted outside the Avon Medical Centre in Larkhall, Lanarkshire some time this week.

The town lost residents James Mair, 37, and 19-year-old Jim Gray in the stadium tragedy, which claimed 66 lives in 1971.

Furious locals reported the “66 deed” graffiti and it’s now been cleaned off.

It’s understood surgery staff cleaned the writing off after it was brought to their attention.

Yesterday the practice declined to comment.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Enquiries into the vandalism are continuing.”

It comes just over a week after Rangers joined with fans in paying tribute to those who died in the tragedy.

The incident in 1971 saw 66 Light Blues fans lose their lives following a crush on Stairway 13.

And the club has joined with fans and followers all over the world in remembering the victims.

Rangers said on Twitter: “We will never forget those who went to follow the Rangers & never made it home. Forever in our hearts #AlwaysRemembered.”

Among those who laid flowers at the memorial outside the stadium were ex-captain John Grieg, Paul Murray and current boss Graeme Murty

We told you last month how Rangers held a minute’s silence as a mark of respect ahead of their game against Motherwell.

I do find it hilarious how they constantly mis-spell stuff.

The whole, “yer teams deid” chat is cringeworthy on so many levels but the spelling along highlights the mindset and intelligence levels of those participating.

The 66 and the ..ee.. looks to be some kind of sick 'designer spelling'.

The type of person who engages in this type of act is ultimately very sad and to be almost pitied.

Fifteen years past, on another Bears' website, far, far away.

The social media content of the brother of BBC Scotland commentator, Liam McLeod was exposed. I am not interested in visiting the sins of Rory upon Liam; however, the conditioning of both brothers must be up for debate. Both middle class, tertiary educated, and Aberdeen supporters. Rory had lots of vile references to the Ibrox Disaster on his social media. Liam is a long term employee of BBC Scotland.

Last season, Rangers visited Pittodrie in September'16. The team coach was parked in the car park of the Hotel used by Rangers. On the morning of the game, there was a two foot high engraving on the side of the coach, mocking the deaths of 66 football supporters. The car park is well covered by CCTV cameras, there has been no arrests. Now, I am sure it was reported at the time, Rory was a serving Polis.

It's like Justice Minister, Michael Matheson sitting in the North Stand at Sellik Park and two effigies are hanging by their necks for in excess of an hour, to his half right. Strange fruit twisting in the breeze. The Match Commander at that old firm game congratulated the crowd for their exceptionally good behaviour. Michael refused to comment, but three arrests ensued. Ra Sellik have already returned season tickets to two of those charged. Eighteen months on, do we believe the third will ever see the inside of a court? Michael continues to believe the Hokey-Cokey to be a sectarian song.

Just a thought on this obnoxious "deed"were the medical staff so blind that it had to be brought to their attention, before it was cleaned off,or did they find it amusing and were leaving it?????
Perhaps it was sprayed on a wall that wasn't in direct view of the main entrance doors. Insulting the medical staff like you did makes you out to be just as bad as the culprit if you ask me.
