Don't know but he left at the end of December, replaced by Ana Stewart. She's from Dundee but don't know her allegiances.

After graduating from Duncan of Jordanstone, College of Art in 1991, Ana founded i-design, a digital UX design consultancy aimed at servicing the emerging digital creative industry, from a spare bedroom. The business grew over the next decade into a global innovator in self-service consumer engagement software for FIs, achieving multiple industry firsts and awards. In 2004, she launched a second business atmAd, an aggregated digital media channel enabling advertising brands to reach consumers with targeted offers across ATM retail and high street locations. As CEO, she led the AIM listing of the company on the London Stock Exchange in 2007 and was voted Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year by the Entrepreneurial Exchange. Over the next five years the company expanded into Europe and North America and in 2013, Ana sold the company to NASDAQ listed Cardtronics, the world's largest ATM services provider, joining their executive leadership team before leaving the organisation last year.

Ana recently joined the Board of the Scottish FA as an independent non-executive director, becoming the first female board member in the organisation's 144 year history.

Outside of her business interests Ana is a keen sports fan and next month will be taking on a 650km hike across three countries incorporating the West Highland Way, Le Puy in France and the Northern Camino in Spain.

Lifted from FF, no official link to statement yet! posted by Mark Dingwall

Response from DK

'I can confirm receipt of information, which would appear to be credible and which merits immediate and thorough independent investigation. Mr Hughes should be suspended pending this investigation.

I also believe steps must be taken to ascertain whether any other SFA individuals were aware of what Mr Hughes said about Rangers supporters before he was appointed a non-executive director of the governing body in 2015. It is important to discover if there has been a breach of the SFA’s duties and responsibilities to all clubs.'

Interesting and confirms a long overdue counter-offensive.

Read somewhere that the original article was about to be republished before his appointment but was "suppressed"........think it was a comment on the Dave King report in the Herald today. Might be shite of course

By the sounds of it the publication it appeared in took it off their site and they or other interested party had google remove it aswell prior to the SFA appointment of Hughes.

The issues are that Hughes is supposed to be 'independent' and that there were possibly SFA personel with knowledge or complicent in the removal of the article.

The fact such efforts were involved in the articles removal from the web shows that there was a perception of it being a black mark on such an 'independent' appointment in the first place by the candidate/SFA.

Effectively, they(Hughes/SFA personel) have already passed self-judgement on Hughes/SFA personel, several years ago.

Like Brendan O'Hara MP, like Stuart Cosgrove, like James Cook, like Jane Hamilton, like ........................................... etc; Gary will give an assurance of regret, the language will be redefined as, 'cheeky', offer an apology if one is desired, and quietly move to a position of, 'careful hate'.
