How's the Squad Shaping Up?

Recommended Posts

Best thing about this squad is that it has a management team that I reckon will get the best out of it.

We've had groups of players in the past that should have ddone better than they did and I think it hada lot to do with the management of the day.

Think you could add a * to Dorrans too though it pains me to say it. I fear injury has taken its toll of a player I always liked. Oh, and has Holt gone yet?

Possibly.

Holt is away on loan to Fleetwood.

Celtic's defence has been lambasted yet again by their fans after last night. I think for the first time in a long time a number of our starting 11 would get into theirs. The only problem is that it's all in the same position!

Just my opinion but it looks to me that almost our back 5 is better than theirs, I think Barisic will be fantastic but you'd have to give Tierney the nod. I think Jack can be better than Brown from now on. But the rest of the attacking positions go to Celtic, and it's not even close. They are still head and shoulders above us in all those positions and our guys would seriously struggle to make their bench. I think this is a worry and we need to address it before the window closes, otherwise we could have another season of frustrating home games where we lack the quality and creativity to break teams down.

                            McGregor

Tavernier      Katic     Goldson       Barisic

                    Jack      Coulibaly/Arfield

Candeias/Windass    Arfield/Dorrans       Murphy/Kent

                           Morelos/Sadiq

                           Gordon

Lustig            Ajer      Hendry           Tierney

                     Brown     Ntcham

Forrest/Hayes/Christie    Rogic/Arzani/Allan   McGregor/Sinclair

                  Griffiths/Dembele/Edouard

I think we're all aware that the club is restricted by budget which makes the game tonight all the more crucial. The manager decided that his priority had to be building from the back and who around here would disagree with that after all the whining we did about the defence last season.

I do agree with the strategy. It's obviously dependent on what we have left in the kitty I was just giving my opinion that it's an area which is very weak in the starting line-up in comparison to our rivals. I'm hoping the Windass money (assuming it goes through) will be put to good use.

Latest rumour is that Gerrard is in for Solanke again and favourite to land him.

Not convinced by what I've seen of him on Youtube and he's yet another loan player, but happy to trust Gerrard if it materialises.

I think that is a pretty fair and unbiased assessment. I'm sure that a midfield of Arfield, Jack and Coulibaly will press theirs out of existence. Agree that Jack is now better than Brown. don't forget they failed to get McGinn and have lost Armstrong from last season. The over-rated Forrest will be swatted away by Barisic too so reasons to be cheerful.
