Really interesting game - both teams working hard but not many clear cut chances.

 

Rapid then take the lead from a very fortunate offside goal but we equalise right away with a well worked goal.

 

Generally we're doing OK but too ponderous on the ball and wasteful in good positions, taking the wrong option too often.  In fact our midfield has been pretty poor and none of the five can say they're playing well - Coulibaly perhaps just getting pass marks.

 

If we can be a more more direct and inject some pace into our play, we can win this but we really need to be better from the midfield forward (though Morelos is doing well on his own to fashion a few half-chances).

We've not really got started yet and as DMAA says the winger at their goal was a yard n half offside when he receives the ball behind Flanagan. The linesman is in line with him too so theres really no excuse for it at this level.

Arfield has been at most a 6 1/2 Coulibally gets a pass with a good 8 and Ejaria has been chasing the game.

That's probably the game Rapid wanted, but we surely not. Looks like a "up-and-at-them cup game", long balls, hardly aimed, no slick football. We easily could sub Ejaria for Lafferty, who is far better used to this style.

 

What have we done that we always get such crap refs?

Arfield is doing the defensive work reasonably OK but on the ball he's been woeful - same can be said for most of our usual attacking threats.

 

To be fair though, I think most of them were involved in our well worked equaliser so hopefully they take heart from that.
