We were reportedly right in for the lad Fulgini until he went to Mainz at the end. I remain hopeful we can at least bring in one quality first team player.

Yep, would have loved to have gotten Skov Olsen in. Every time I see Brugges results he is either scoring or assisting. He will make them mega bucks when sold too.

I think its a fair point. The money from Gerrard and Patterson may have been reinvested in the January window. But not sure how much we really spent bar Zukowski. But back then our financial outlook was very different so while its ok to be disappointed with the lack of January spend its hard to be extremely critical of it.

Last season we signed Zukowski and Bacuna for money, but I doubt Ramsay and Lundstram are/were earning peanuts. We signed Sands too, which has an option to buy for £6m (?). 

 

I think it's silly to expect to spend 100% of this income on new signings. 

 

We can argue if it was well-spent, or not - not, in this case - but that was last season.

 

Leave that to one side and focus on this season.

You're just adding up what you want, going back years, to arrive a some big number, and thinking, 'oh - yes, we should be spending close to that in this widow'. I don't think that's how businesses run.

I think Bacuna was a profitable trade. 

 

I'm convinced it was the plan all along. We had the opportunity to get him for nothing, then sell him on. 

 

He was too good a player not to use, IMO.
