SSN: Rangers agree deal to sign midfielder Nicolas Raskin from Standard Liege.

Looks like a first teamer recruited as Beale said he wanted.

Forgetting the finance for a moment....looks like a player with the required level and age.

Raskin.

Why pay SL 2M PLUS a 20% sign on..WTF? (if true) for a player that will be free in 5 months?

That's just dumb business.

Agree to terms with the player on the side to come to the team when his contract expires.

We are not in the hunt for the league.

Silly business.

I'd imagine most people who regularly pay to watch Rangers would like to see performances improve and for us to win whatever silverware is still obtainable.

We've been poor for months and new recruits have been needed.

I'd say we need midfield recruitments now.  The team is jaded and we've got cups to win and yahoos to beat.

The duality of a Rangers fan.

I'm guessing we haven't just accepted their first offer which is why it's taken a while to resolve. Presumably Beale feels it's worth paying now to get the player in and established in the first team, so that's great. The board are backing him too. Not sure what the negative is, especially if he contributes in the league and cups?

IDK if any of this is true.

The cryptic nature of European sports (injuries, finance, etc.) being what it is.

However, 2M and a 20% sell on for a player that will be free at season end is not wise...cups be damned.

Especially at a club like Rangers where money doesn't fall from the Sky

Pragmatism is an ally to successful business.
