I agree. Last season's Celtic side wouldn't have dropped the points they have this season. They were on 73 points at this stage last season, on 62 this season. Surprisingly we're on exactly the same points after 26 matches that we were last season, 64. There is an argument that this season's Rangers side isn't as strong as last season's side, certainly we've fewer striking options, our defence is pretty much the same but we've a better keeper.

That shouldn't take away from what Clement has achieved results and performance wise though, he's taken a side lacking direction and, I'd say, ability, and turned them into a side much better than the sum of its parts.

He’s steadied the buffs and is taking us in the right direction we’re top of the tree but can we still be top at the seasons end , I do hope so .

We drew at home with Celtic, won every other league game. There would have been a riot if we'd sacked him after his first 9 games.

His first nine games and indeed the whole of last season is fairly irrelevant, perhaps apart from his two defeats to Celtic at Hampden. It was his summer reconstruction of the playing squad that revealed his inadequacy, quickly confirmed as the season started. There was little justification waiting until the beginning of October to sack him.

If last seasons results were irrelevant, then there was no justification to sack him last season. So you are using "hindsight".

We should have sacked Beale before October, but the board were backing their man to turn it around. In fact, he should never have been appointed in the 1st place but thats another argument / debate.

His player recruitment doesn't look to bad to be honest. Butland outstanding, Sterling outstanding, Sima outstanding, Cantwell outstanding, Dessers now showing why we signed him as was Danilo before his injury - only really Lammers who was / is a major disappointment.

Agreed its Clement that is getting a tune out of them, but most of his signings are contributing and have us sitting top of the league.

In bursts, the team is playing football not seen since the Advocaat years. Even when Beale’s sides won it was turgid stuff.

A wins a win - would take turgid wins from now to the end of the season.

We had some decent performances under Beale last season but many could argue that the games / results were meaningless.

The 3-0 victory over Celtic was anything but turgid. His 1st game was a 3-2 win at home to Hibs which was a great game and definitely not turgid.

However his tenure was a failure, no getting away from that, but I think some fans memories have been clouded by the performances earlier this season.

As would we all.

I think the team is playing better football than was on display last season. Different spectators see things differently.

On the whole I'd agree but I wouldn't call all of Beales wins as turgid.

Also, there have been certain times where our performances under Clement have been Beale-esque - not entire games, but periods in certain games.

I'd say the best performances under Clement have come after winter break which is refreshing as that's when we normally fall apart.

I'd argue that our title winning season under SG was the best / consistently good football we've been served up for a decade or more.

Some of the football last week, against Ross County, was light years ahead of anything we produced with Beale in charge.

The team are playing like a real team.

I'd say our 3-0 win over Celtic topped our 3-1 win over Ross County performance wise.
