It was aye and it was dismissing his early work tbf as well as the graft he put in through the leagues to get to the prem - rather than the silver spoon opportunities that Jansen and Lampard have had for example.

I wasn't dismissing his early work at Sheffield Utd at all - I am actually a big fan of his tactical use of the overlapping centre-back in the back-three.

However, IMO, a large part of his success was because he had a good group of players which propelled him up to the PL, but once those players fell out of the team or he didn't have them (i.e. Middlesborough and Watford) he hasn't had any success, or he hasn't been able to recreate it.

Whether I'm being harsh or not, it's factually correct.

I don't want Lampard and Jansen, either.

Just an aside, if the B teams had been in the lower leagues (up to the championship) for the last 10 years then we'd be a lot calmer about the situation.

Rangers bad though.

What do you mean?

Sky Sports are saying that Potter and Ryan Lowe (Preston NE) are not in the running.

We may have to settle for Davis and Rae for the foreseeable future it might work it may not only time will tell.

As in if we had a head coach of the B team in the Championship with a shared ethos with the first team - which I think is what the club would want, he'd be an ideal interim until we found a successor. Better yet, he might even be the successor.

A la Guardiola, Zidane (Jansen?) etc.

Bugbear of mine.

I completely agree. I've always been in favour if a properly integrated B team, both within the club and within the league pyramid/structure.

Alas! Dinosaurs and incompetents run our game...
