The Broomy, Copland and Govan are all becoming a bit tacky and untidy now. If these 3 stands were to be rebuilt then that wouldn't be such a bad thing.

Maybe it's got something to do with the Commonealth Games.

If they are going to knock down then build 3 new stands then lets pray to god that it's not done on the cheap and resembles something along the lines of a top class stadium and not the CarParkhead.

Rangers have revealed a plan to redevelop Ibrox stadium, in a bold project which could make the stadium the biggest in the country.

The plans would see the stadium completely rebuilt with a new capacity of 70,000, significantly increasing the club's potential revenue.

The club would retain the Bill Struth main stand, which is designated as as a Category B listed building.

Ibrox currently holds 51,082 fans, behind Hampden Park and Celtic Park.

"The club would like to inform its fans that it is currently assessing a number of proposals for the development and regeneration around Ibrox," announced a club statement.

"At present we are analysing three strategies which would enhance the development of the existing outline planning proposals for the Hinshelwood area to the south of the stadium.

"One of the strategies includes the total rebuilding of Ibrox Stadium while retaining the brick facade, the tradition and the integrity of the Bill Struth Main Stand.

"The club stresses that at this time it is assessing these proposals and no decisions will be reached imminently.

"Further details will be announced at the appropriate time."

Rangers had previously been granted planning permission to build a casino and hotel complex at the Ibrox site, as part of plans for the UK's first regional casino, but the project went to Manchester instead.

70,000 - thats a fair revamp!!

Firstly, the main stand ISNT a listed building, the red brick facade is ... it would be possible (but tricky) to completely rebuild the main stand around the red brick facade

Secondly, size ISNT everything. We have a five star stadium here, and if we are to rebuild, we need to make sure standards are maintained, and with Murray still in charge ......... hmmmm!

It sounds like the want to move the ground a bit and keep the bricks which is very possible - Ive heard of many buildings which have been moved brick by brick.

Agreed, size isnt everything but atmosphere makes a huge difference. Ibrox is flat as a pancake except in big games so we should look at ideas on how to improve this. For eg, Arsenal used acoustic experts when designing Emirates.

70,000 would be great for OF games but we'd need to lower ticket prices to fill a game against Gretna. Scotland does need a stadium this size for big matches aswell as a 30,000 ground.

It read in the paper that the stadium will be re-named as well, I'm all for the new stadium and 70,000 seats but dont fancy loosing the name along with it, Ibrox Stadium stirs something inside when you hear it, on the other hand I guess the investment would be more important than the name.

expect the stadium name to be a sponsors name. generates more cash for the club. and lets face it (should this actually happen), when your wife or mother asks you where your going every other saturday the following words will roll out your lips without hesitation, "im goin tae Ibrox"! they can rename the new stadium what ever they like, it will always be Ibrox to me!

didnt this happen to arsenal when they moved from highburt to the emirates. i heard that emirates more or less funded most of the stadium aslong as the stadium was called emirates and there name/logo was put on the arsenal shirts. i personally would still like it to be called ibrox maby even if the new name still has ibrox in it
