Roy Carroll to Derby

What's this policy Rangers have about only paying the younger players X amount a week. Can someone explain please?

Aye, it's often the ones who came through the ranks. Because of that, regardless of quality and their value to the squad they're immediately expected to accept reduced wages compared to foreign journey men.

Which is a joke and could potentially cost us creating a very talented team from the youth development.

If Hutton is on 10k a week and Spurs offered to double it.... would we not agree that a 23 yr old guy playing exceptionally well should be getting that 20k a week at OUR club ?

To be fair though, there does seem to be a new willingness to offer the young Scots players who come through improved deals once they become regulars in the first team. I'm guessing that's either us protecting our investment now, just rewarding them and/or is part of the new strict wage structure that's been in place for the last while now.

We have to look after ourselves but I can't help feeling sorry for him. Rangers are a bigger club - but first pick in the Premiership versus a place on the bench for a bigger club?

The trouble usually is that a lot of players will choose the latter due to a higher wage and waste their talent.

Rangers actually pay their youth teams more than what a similar level youth at say Man Utd is on. This i think is one of our problems, if a young guy at 16 is getting 900 bucks a week then he might think he has made it. Compare to Man Utd who's youths are on about a third of that. The difference comes with the jump upto the first team. Thats when we cant compete with the Premiership.
